Volla Phone 22 - Building UT and/or VollaOS Images
-
I recently bought a Volla Phone 22 with UT and love the device. However, I'm surprised to find there is no mention of it anywhere on ubports, other than the forums and gitlab.
In reviewing the Volla Phone 22 section in UBPorts gitlab, I see a kernel and configuration is available.
https://gitlab.com/ubports/porting/community-ports/android11/volla-phone-22
But I can't find a mention of anyone building the image for it. Maybe there is a good reason for this?
I want to jump in an get it done, but before I do, could someone with more experience please tell me if this is a fools errand in the first place?
Ultimately, I want to build the VollaOS and UT images for Volla Phone 22, such that I can perform
fastboot flash boot [ volla_os | volla_ut ].img
to provision my device any time, since I'm going to be destroying the boot partition often.
Please advise.
Thank you,

Hi @opcode
I moved your thread in the Volla section, I think it's best suited for this topic.I'm not sure about my answer, but I think Volla is doing the port for the Volla Phone 22.
Volla and UBports are working well together, so I guess when they are ready the port will be made available in the UBports installer.
As to where are the source to build it yourself, I really don't know. -
For the VP22, some things are still in preparation. For example, the device page at UBports, see issue https://forums.ubports.com/topic/8075/volla-phone-22-building-ut-and-or-vollaos-images I think we need some patience ...

Yes, thanks.
Can we have a subcategory for the Volla Phone 22?

@sven I am looking into it, normally it needs tobe closer to getting on the installer.

@lakotaubp
Maybe we could make an exception for a forum section without it in installer as V22 can already be bought with UT installed as i understand. -
@keneda There will be a section for the 22. It will probably be early next week now.

Today I saw a first OS update "number 1" on my VP22. After installation, it is named 2022-08-18/2. Now I can switch between the normal 3 update channels. Under development, there is a "version 163". So, you can download at least 2 different versions. You only need to find out where they are located on your device (after downloading and before installing) and copy them to your PC. Just an idea ...

@opcode it will come like the 2 previous phones they made, they have both installable, the UT phones have a unpartitioned b partition which suprised me because it could be a great fallback if something bricks your os. i would like having TWRP as custom recovery.
