Cannot install, help!
-
@mateo_salta It has often been stated 'don't use usb-3 ports for installing' so that stacks up!
-
Wow, as soon as I put a USB2 hub between the phone and computer, the installation completed. Nuts.
-
@a8ksh4
Not nuts, the USB chipset on the phone is probably not able to handle the full speed of USB3 and not even the maxed speed of USB2 while the computer is delivering the full theoretical speed because it can.MTP protocol handle the data transmission but is very slow because of limitations on phone's side, the method used to flash a device was not intended (I guess) for large data transfer and often results to errors.
Makes sense to me at least -

@mrt10001 i'm having the same issue also, i downgraded via the android flash tool, then used the ubport tool it gets stuck on google logo screen.
i attempted using different USB ports too with the same result, i'm guessing because i'm coming from Lineage OS 12l where you have to change the partition sizes for Android 12 that's why its not working any more?
-
@adamjonn Have you tried the different slots? Generally installing a stock ROM should put the partition s back to their original size , but not always...
-
@mrt10001 thanks for the quick reply, i flashed it to both partitions via the flash tool
-
@mrt10001 sorry forgot to add just re-flashed lineage os 12L with no problem, i'd be worried if i had to resize the partitions again can't remember the process does anyone know how to flash UBport manually via fastboot commands like how you install Lineage os with twrp?
-
@adamjonn Try installing TWRP for the device and in there format data, and erase cache and system. Then using the Google browser android tool install the correct ROM (it has to be that specific ROM). The try UT installer again.
It could be an issue with the data partition being encrypted (and formatting it in TWRP should solve that issue). -
@mrt10001 thank for the quick reply, i'll give thata bash, is it andriod 9 or andriod 10? thanks again!
-
@adamjonn it will tell you on the ubports devices page and on the installer screens as you start the UT install.
-
@mrt10001 thanks, just attempted that installed Android 9 as i recommends on the installer, booted back to boot loader, boot to TWRP wipe, advanced wipe cache and system, format data. then reran the ubport installer and it did seem to download another 2 files this time so was hopful but still got stuck on the Google logo thanks for the advice though
-
@adamjonn ok, reinstall the correct version of the ROM using the Google browser installer, but there are some extra steps to do from a previous post of mine re getting stuck on the Google logo. It is a bit late but I will look it out to morrow. Once you have completed that don't need to install TWRP, but just go straight to UT install.
Edit, late last night and it was in this forum thread to try:
Tick the following before install:
Force flash all partitions - ticked
Disable verification - ticked
Disable verity - ticked -
@mrt10001 thanks for looking into it, i'll give it a bash sometime soon and feeback, thanks again!
-
@mrt10001 just tried it on the latest build on the android flash tool Android 11 and the Android 9 as recommend on the ubport tool and flashed it again, it still got stuck on the google logo.
this time when install the ubports tool did say newer version is available on arch Linux, currently its on 0.9.6 but couldn't update to the newer version.
if possible is there a bash script to install it and adb fastboot i wounder
-
@adamjonn now you slove this problem that Google Logo? If you alread solve,Pls contact me
-
@kiespro Hi sadly i didn't solve it not attempted since, may do over the Christmas period but would ideally like to script it via fastboot and alike
-
@adamjonn Boot TWRP and go to wipe. In wipe format the DATA partition. Then go to advanced wipe and make sure the DATA partition is EXT4, if not change the partition to EXT4. Reboot back into TWRP and format SYSTEM and CACHE. Then try installing UT using the installer.
I have found flashing UT through fastboot without using the installer, or specific steps for certain devices not on the installer fails. I don't have the knowledge yet to work out why, but it generally fails.
-
@mrt10001 i'll give it a go later thank for the advice!
i do wonder if its because im on lineage os Android 12.1 version and had to change the partition sizes to get that to work.
would love a fastboot method as i scripted the lineage os install with TWRP too but that wipes the boot, product and userdata the installer used to work when i was Android 11 but since Android 12 hasn't.
-
@adamjonn That is the usual problem when a previous non-stock ROM is installed. I had to resize the partitions back to stock on the Google Nexus4 and 5 after LineageOS had been installed on them. UT just failed to install.
On the Pixels, installing a stock ROM usually resizes the partitions back to stock, but not always.
As a side note, UT installs in a different manner to other ROMs, makes installing through fastboot difficult.
-
@mrt10001 i just did TWRP and checked the data partition is EXT4 and attempted the install again and it got stuck on the second reboot on the google screen after the robot installing screen.
that makes sense regarding the partition sizes, just used the Andriod flash tool to install Andriod 11 stock again but got stuck on the google logo again after flashing UT sadly
