Can't receive SMS
-
@ultrasonicnoise what country are you in and what carrier are you using?

Same problem I suffered with my pixel 3a xl yesterday and today but he returned to work after restarting the device twice. The dialer-app has some problems on the pixel. For example when I call a person, the phone rings works with a phone operator and other operators it does not work and I do not hear a ring until the person answers and well as a problem with code USSD
-
@rik I'm in the UK and my network provider is O2.
@kimo I think it's working again - took a good few (at least 3 or 4) restarts though.
Phone calls worked fine (unless I couldn't receive those either) and sending SMS worked as intended except I didn't receive the usual USSD message, mobile data worked as well.
-
Update on this - this issue has happened more than a few times this month. I only started noticing it after the OTA-24 update, though I don't text enough that I would have noticed before.
-
@ultrasonicnoise I get this issue now and then. Usually turning flight mode on and off is enough - if not, type "initctl --user restart nuntium" in terminal and it should work
-
@emphrath I experienced this issue again today and that command had no effect.

Yes
nuntium
service is there only for MMS.
Would be interesting to see if the issue persist on 20.04 as there will not be any update on Xenial afaik. -
@lduboeuf I can confirm the issue persists with 20.04.
-
No problem with sms on focal it works I accept and send sms almost every day
-
@kimo Maybe it's a problem with my old network - it's not a problem with a different network on the Fairphone 2. I would test the new SIM on the Pixel 3a but I'd have trouble transferring it back.
-
I also have this issue on my Pixel 3a; it has recently stopped receiving text messages, making using 2FA a major problem. I can send texts and make calls without a problem. A restart is sometimes a temporary fix but the problem keeps coming back.
Has this bug been reported on GitHub? -
@barryt https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues/2080
Please precise OS version and channel
-
@lduboeuf Thanks for the reply.

So this would be nice to test current devel channel if you see changes and report to the above ticket.

@lduboeuf
Is it the same for dev focal, frankly, I noticed a change in receiving messages, I mean an improvement, for example, before I did not receive alert messages about who called me while the phone was in airplanemode or turned off -

No issue for me since a week now on 20.04 ( devel updated each day, and device shut
down every evening ) -
@lduboeuf I have updated to 20.04 Development channel. The system immediately delivered two texts that had been sent the previous day, which is encouraging. I shall test it for a week and then report back here and on Github.

Since there were multiple things going on I am not sure where the SMS reliability issue was addressed. Any link to the key issue would be appreciated.

I don't know if anything have changed in Halium part. Just noticed since a merge in network-manager and ofono-sailfish repo.
For the issue ticket on gitlab: https://gitlab.com/ubports/development/core/packaging/ofono-sailfish/-/issues/5

@barryt I have been running 20.04 Development channel for a few days now and everything is working perfectly; SMS messages come through in just a few seconds. I shall post on the Github link.
Thanks for the help.
