It's not about where you are from. It's about what exact version your phone is.

            Is currently using an Op5t
Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

The India version is a specific version of that device, that was sold in India.

That is not true. The Redmi Note 9S is also officially sold here in the Netherlands, so at best the listing is wrong or incomplete. Or does it mean that only the Indian version is supported and not the version over here, even though it's the exact same version (bar maybe the supported bands, as India has different bands)?

@Vistaus Contact the porter. I would take a wild guess that they reside in India and used a version of the 9s with an Indian ROM on it.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.... And more...
                I have too many devices...

I did contact the porter, but no response.

@Vistaus I have found that too. Porters come and go as I guess life and other things take over.

That's okay, as long as everything (or at least the most important things) work. But there's no way of knowing on this particular device unless you take the leap and try it on the non-India variant. The device is pretty cheap, but you do lose your warranty when you unlock the bootloader, so as a user rather than a dev, it would be nice to know beforehand whether it'll (mostly) work or not.

On my Redmi 9 (the regular Redmi 9) Ubuntu Touch works like a breeze.

@Vistaus Yes, my Redmi 9 works fine. From experience, warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on, especially on a device over a year old. I have taken the leap of faith on many a device.

But I don't currently have the Redmi Note 9S, only the regular Redmi 9 with Ubuntu Touch, so if I were to buy the 9S now, it would be new and not over a year old. That makes a difference warranty-wise.
