        Hello everyone,

I have read about the lack of documentation for Dekko 2 and would like to know if there is anyone who has recently made an Office 365 Business/Exchange Server account to work with the app?

        The general IMAP settings are:
        Server name: outlook.office365.com
        Port: 993
        Encryption method: TLS

        SMTP:
        Server name: smtp.office365.com
        Port: 587
        Encryption method: STARTTLS

        U/N: user@domain.com
        P/W: app password (old authentication)

I have tried both PLAIN ang LOGIN but couldn't make it work. I believe the issue is in the authentication because, in Thunderbird, I use OAuth2 modern authentication already.

Has anyone using M$ Exchange Servers discovered any tricks to this? Cheers.

@TakoR You may have to create an app password on your M$ office to get Dekko2 to log into the server. I have to do this with GMail, ICloud, Yahoo to get them working on Dekko2.

@MrT10001 Yes, I tried using app passwords for my paid M$ Office 365 Business accounts but nothing worked. I use app passwords with my outlook.com personal accounts on Dekko 2.

I tried doing another test on Thunderbird last night and noticed again that my paid M$ accounts do not accept app passwords as authentication anymore. It happened before in July 2022 when M$ announced that they will be deprecating Basic Authentication and will be replaced by Modern Authentication (OAuth2).

It seems like I am going to flag this one for now as Dekko 2 doesn't have OAuth2 as an authentication method. I can disable MFA but I won't be doing that.

I am going to just either wait for OAuth2 to be impremented on Dekko, wait for another email client or access the emails in-browser.

I am not worried because I was resigned to using my Nokia 3310 way before I got hold of Ubuntu Touch.

@Lakotaubp Thanks for that. I like the concept of Delta Touch. My personal accounts work, however, my app passwords from our Exchange accounts still don't work.

I am still going to check on different iterations. Cheers.

@Lakotaubp @MrT10001 Well, here's the issue. App passwords have been deprecated with Exchange servers.

                  Link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/clients-and-mobile-in-exchange-online/deprecation-of-basic-authentication-exchange-online.

So app passwords are included in their Basic Authentication. OAuth2 is their preferred authentication method.

I am now trying to, at least, access it on Morph. There is an error and, according to the forums, such error refers to the servers looking at IE10 user agents.

Ah, that's why I don't get any mail on Dekko2.
Can you briefly explain how to set up Dekko2 with an app PW? I generated one on my google account but I don' know how to set up Dekko2 to use it.

@gdegrez It is slightly different for each account provider.

For gmail you have to turn on less secure apps (or allow access): This will show how

Then generate an app password: This will show how

I us my Lenovo TAB (UT) to get my Gmail on Dekko 2. Handy for filtering out spam.

That requires an administrator account as far as I can understand.

                        What about Yahoo ?

@gdegrez If it's not why are you not admin for your personal gmail account?

Here is how to do it on a Yahoo account.

If you have two step verification on your account, you may need to have a PC/phone/tablet to say "Yes, it's me".

It seems personal accounts don't have administrator privileges, that's what I get when I open the link
                                https://support.google.com/a/answer/6260879?hl=en
Sign in to your Google Admin console.
Sign in using an administrator account, not your current account xxxxx@gmail.com

Here is how to do it on a Yahoo account.

I found that indeed, but the service is not working at the moment, it replies
Sorry, this feature is not available right now!
                                😞

Conclusion: Dekko2 is totally unusable as far as I am concerned.

@gdegrez Just tested Dekko2 with gmail on my Focal OP5T running OTA-2, worked like a charm with the app password, my account is my own personal one.

Aren't you behind a paywall? I haven't used Yahoo for quite a while now since MM took over.

It's usable for personal accounts, for me, at least with outlook.com ones. For Exchange server ones, they won't work because they need OAuth2, which is so-so. I am not a fan of that, especially if the 2FA is through a mobile phone.
