Dekko 2 and Microsoft Exchange Servers
-
@TakoR Have you tried https://open-store.io/app/deltatouch.lotharketterer it be worth a look.
-
@Lakotaubp Thanks for that. I like the concept of Delta Touch. My personal accounts work, however, my app passwords from our Exchange accounts still don't work.
I am still going to check on different iterations. Cheers.
-
@Lakotaubp @MrT10001 Well, here's the issue. App passwords have been deprecated with Exchange servers.
So app passwords are included in their Basic Authentication. OAuth2 is their preferred authentication method.
I am now trying to, at least, access it on Morph. There is an error and, according to the forums, such error refers to the servers looking at IE10 user agents.

@MrT10001
Ah, that's why I don't get any mail on Dekko2.
Can you briefly explain how to set up Dekko2 with an app PW? I generated one on my google account but I don' know how to set up Dekko2 to use it. -
@gdegrez It is slightly different for each account provider.
For gmail you have to turn on less secure apps (or allow access): This will show how
Then generate an app password: This will show how
I us my Lenovo TAB (UT) to get my Gmail on Dekko 2. Handy for filtering out spam.

@gdegrez Is it a work account?
-
@MrT10001
No, it's a personal account -

@gdegrez If it's not why are you not admin for your personal gmail account?
It seems personal accounts don't have administrator privileges, that's what I get when I open the link
https://support.google.com/a/answer/6260879?hl=en
Sign in to your Google Admin console.
Sign in using an administrator account, not your current account xxxxx@gmail.comHere is how to do it on a Yahoo account.
I found that indeed, but the service is not working at the moment, it replies
Sorry, this feature is not available right now!
Conclusion: Dekko2 is totally unusable as far as I am concerned.
If you have two step verification on your account, you may need to have a PC/phone/tablet to say "Yes, it's me".
-
@gdegrez Just tested Dekko2 with gmail on my Focal OP5T running OTA-2, worked like a charm with the app password, my account is my own personal one.
-
@MrT10001 Lucky you. I am still on Xenial and cannot upgrade
-
@gdegrez What device?
-
@MrT10001
BQ Aquaris M10 FHD -
@gdegrez Ah, I don't have that device.

Aren't you behind a paywall? I haven't used Yahoo for quite a while now since MM took over.
It's usable for personal accounts, for me, at least with outlook.com ones. For Exchange server ones, they won't work because they need OAuth2, which is so-so. I am not a fan of that, especially if the 2FA is through a mobile phone.

@MrT10001 @Lakotaubp @gdegrez Hey mates, I found an app on the Open Store which can handle M$ Exchange servers.
Here it is: https://open-store.io/app/outlook-office365.ste-kal.
It's a good wrapper and handles OAuth2 very well. It allows access probably just to one account but that's fine. It's a start. There is that "Sign in with a different account option" but I haven't tried that yet.
I have marked this as "Solved" even though it's not through Dekko 2 as the new app is actually a very usable option.

@TakoR Check this, maybe it helps: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/9210/dekko-not-connecting-to-imap-or-pop3-servers-after-update-to-focal/21

Thanks. That works fine indeed.
I can also have access to my gmail account with the Gmail web app.
The pity is to have to use 2 apps (and the web interface for Yahoo mail) to check mail.
The nice thing with a good email client is to have a single interface for all mail accounts.
If Dekko2 only worked with gmail and yahoo, I would be happy. But it's not so.
