Hi, there!
I want to use Japanese language on hardware keyboard connected to pixel 3a. Now my device can use Japanese language on screan keyboard with flick and can use Japanese keyboard layout which input English. My device can't input Japanese language with hardware keyboard. I tryied to install mozc, but it can't available on UT.
So, I want to try to develop IME. But, I am beginner to develop IME on UT. How can I develop like this? I want any documentations and references about this.

Hi @savasava210
For an external keyboard, you can choose the layout in the drop down menu.
Go to the keyboard menu (3rd from the left) to get access to the "Keyboard Settings".
In this menu you can select the layout for your keyboard.I see 7 different layout for Japanese.
Have you tried all of them to see if one fits your keyboard?I hope it helps...
Best of luck -
@AppLee
Hi, AppLee.
Thank you for your post.I tried to all Japanese layout and I figure out "Japanese (Kana)" can input Japanese partially.
Common Japanese use "Romaji" input method and use 3 types of Japanese ""Hiragana", "Katakana" and "Kanji".
This "Japanese (Kana)" is not "Romaji" input method and can input only "Katakana".Keyboard layout "Japanese" is correct array of input without "Zenkaku/Hankaku" key.
"Zenkaku/Hankaku" key switches Japanese with"Romaji" and "English."
I want to do so.Can I switch Japanese and English with hardware keyboard?

Not sure if you already got it working or you're suggesting improvements but if I remember correctly,
Ctrl + Space
will switch between enabled keyboard layouts. -
