Hi, i have an Gigaset gs4 witch is simliar to the Volla Phone. Starting the Installer causes black Screen and the Phone does nothing.
What can i do? -
@stonee The Gigaset GS290 doesn't have the same digital signature as the Volla Phone, although the hardware itself is the same.
Maybe try installing /e/OS to get it working again:
https://doc.e.foundation/devices/GS290/install
I doubt Ubuntu Touch would be easy to install on it.
Some people have managed to do this by modifying lines of code in the root of the device, but that's beyond my skills... -
@stanwood said in Gigaset GS4 - Gigaset290 - Volla Phone black Screen after starting the installer:

And this is Gigaset GS4, which is probably not identical to the Gigaset GS290.

@Moem Indeed, the title is confusing... GS4 is definitely unsupported by UBports.
-
Any Gigaset device is not officially supported by us. There have been many discussions on here about that. Some have got UT running on Gigaset devices but you need to be careful.

I just found a suggested install routine for the Gigaset GS4 using Lumo AI from Proton.
Iβm not sure if I will do this, because I am new to all of this.
This was the final summary:
8. SummaryUnlock bootloader (Fastboot mode, fastboot oem unlock).
Get port image (community repo on GitHub).
Flashing by fastboot (fastboot flash ...).
Restart device and set up Ubuntu Touch.
If you encounter difficulties during a step, first look at the UBports forum for similar problems - there are usually current work-arounds from other GS4 users.
Good luck installing Ubuntu Touch on your Gigaset GS4!

@mobbs please take the cautions in the message before yours at heart.
As this is really a very old post and it has been made clear that installing UT on Gigaset devices is not supported I will lock this thread.
If you feel the topic needs further discussion please strat a new thread.
