Newbee trying hard, got a no space issue
-
So I am totally new to this
I have a Pixel 3A phone
now got to the point with Ubuntu Touch is installed working well.but every time I try to apt update or install something like Waydroid
I am hitting a drive space issue error.seems like all the drives are pretty much used
root is 99% used
userdata has 45Gb freenot sure how I can get round this ?

the root fs is read only and it is a design decision.
So you should not use apt update or use apt at all in the UT shell. You can install waydroid with the waydroid helper app that you can install from the store.
Note that you can use apt in a libertine container (that you have to create first - go to settings) -
Thankyou for that makes sense
I did first try the waydroid helper, but it kept crashing on the install from the store just hung on the almost complete download
so I gave up,might try the libertine route tho

while your phone is a 'reference device', it don't have a lot of recent issues and that could mean that it's not widely used anymore. So it's possible that it could be related to you having installed a recent version of UT while most tests had been done with previous version (20.04). From the Gitlab issues, there was a complaint about Waydroid not quite working like intended 2 years ago, so it was working with 20.04 at least.
If you have 24.04 installed, maybe you could try to install 20.04 instead and try if it works better; if yes you could file an issue in Gitlab.
