signal brigde on cinny
-
maybe @ danfro will know the answer to my - stupid? - question: I transferred my original signal from one to a new android device. How do I enable the matrix bridge on cinny for I am logged out there?
-
@messayisto Have you followed these instructions by Danfro?
For everyone here who is looking for an alternative to use Signal on Ubuntu Touch.
There is a matrix signal bridge hosted here: https://tchncs.de/matrix.
This can be used with Cinny or any other Matrix client. Instructions are given on the website there.
Note: Some things do still not work. Image download is fine, but right now no other file types. I am working on it...- Open Cinny (or another matrix client)
- create a new room
- invite the bridge bot @signalbot:tchncs.de
- open your primary signal device and head for settings, linked devices
- got to chat with bridge bot and type "login" as message
- scan the qr code with your primary device, it should now link them
- Done.

@Moem yes, but after I transferred my original signal : do I have to go through the whole prodedure again? My Signalbridge on Cinny is still there, it only says its logged out...
-
@messayisto I would try it since the instructions include a 'login'. Not the whole instructions, just from that part.
-
@Moem I will try.
-
hm. I tried in the existing chat: no qr code. I created a new room, invited signalbridgebot, typed login in the new chat: nothing happens. any other ideas?
-
I even logged out from matrix. Logged in again, left both signal rooms, the old and the new one. Created a new room, invited the signalbridgebot again, typed: "login" in the chat, nothing is happening...
-
@messayisto By the way, be aware that, as far as I know, when using the matrix relay bridge you are invalidating the end-to-end encryption mechanism, and the relay operator can access your messages unencrypted!

-
@pparent I' m not shure about that, there was a switch I toggled in for end-to-end- encryption iirc...
-
@pparent I got this answer now, maybe i has to do with encryption?
