Yes, mostly. I was trying to clarify for others. I had recently tried same as you (modify the 'global' firmware with info from the BE2028, and then install on BE2028), which installed & booted, but STILL required unlock token from 1+ (FAIL). I returned that phone.
So then I bought a BE2026, which required only re-install of older stock firmware, & DIY unlock.

BE2026 phone still NOT usable for me (as daily driver) without WiFi calling, or NATIVE VOIP app.

Yes, clarify for others is my goal as well. Nice that we (along with others here) are like minded in this way.

What carrier are you using? What version of Ubuntu Touch are you running?

@Leroy_Linux We experimented with SIP in the dialer and it is capable of making and receiving VoIP calls. Audio routing needs troubleshooting as it could only either send or receive audio, not both. Also, it could stand to be integrated better so that it is prettier and the dial buttons show up during calls. Any help with that would be appreciated. We have a telegram group just for this subject.

Has anybody had luck getting an unlock token from Oneplus for a BE2028 that was sold by a third party over amazon?
            ...
has anybody tried "adjusting" an invoice slightly? 🙂

Thank you for info. Sounds like progress. I will check back.

Good to know. I'm running 24.04-1.2 stable and T-Mobile.

I misread your post. Somehow I interpreted the phone wasn't working well, but you clearly stated that it's just not a daily driver unless WiFi calling or native VOIP. (neither of which I've used... my requirements are just for the working phone which it has done well thus far). Thanks and sorry for my confusion. Hope you find a way to meet your requirements!
