Can't install 24.04-2.x

Hello,

I have a Oneplus Nord N10 5G (Billie) that @messayisto gave me.

It initially had 24.04-2.x, but I had to install 24.04-1.x to make some tests, and I cannot install 24.04-2.x again. I always get this errer message when installing.Any advice?

I can't say I've seen this error before, but "Failed to find block device ..." sounds like a partition or mapping issue (which not sure why downgrading from 2.x to 1.x would lead to the unexpected block device mapping for the upgrade back to 2.x).

Did you have a chance to take a look at the recovery logs per the last message line in your screenshot? Perhaps it may provide some additional clues to the root issue.

Although not ideal, you could always fall back to the option to use MSMTools and put a clean install of Oxygen firmware and then let the UBPorts installer install 2.x. Hopefully, someone else chimes in with a proper, simpler fix however.

Let us know what you find out.

I don't know much about all this, so excuse me if I say stuff that doesn't make sense but could it be that 24.04 2.x has moved on with packaging Morph Qt 6 stuff, and the root partition isn't big enough on Oneplus N10? I believe its not on the list of devices that will get 24.04 2.0 (stable), at least for now, until somebody can figure out enlarging the partition.

Yes if it is not on the least, then it is probably that, I did not know about that.

Because installation of 24.04-1.x works fine, with the same process!

I haven’t been able to install 2.x. That error and the log shows it runs out of disk space

Yes, it is in the list of phones that have to be fixed in order to remove it from the list of that will not receive updates. The n10 maintainer has just fixed it.

I’m optimistic that the n10 will start getting 2.x updates installable through the standard installer. Hopefully soon.

Total size needed 3022764 K

I'd say that disk management is probably taking some space (inodes for example) so the margin is probably too thin.

So it's likely that the system size has grown a bit too much.

Either try to grow /dev/block/dm-0: if this is a dynamic partition this should be possible (unfortunately I have no quick idea to solve it).

Another solution if you need 24.04-2 but not the last version could be to try to install a previous version less bulky. Unfortunately I have no quick idea to do that either.

I just wanted to try to investigate the problem of OSK with XWayland apps on 24.04-2.x, and check whether the problem is still present.

Well it does not matter, I will try again later.
