        Good evening.

Is there a solution for the rounded corners of this smartphone (at least for the clock).

I saw that there is one for the Volla.

        Thank you.

Sadly, the official support hasn't landed yet but there are indeed a few solutions circling around. I've personally haven't tried the notch hack but it's the most common and used one. Perhaps you can try that first. Then I have my own solution which you can try with the app Ambot Installer from the OpenStore. Look for Lomiri Plus Essentials there. It has configuration for rounded corners and display cutouts (notch/punchhole). Note though that any of this solution has some risk. They've been tested but since they modify some system files, there's still a chance of something going wrong. If that case happen, you can just reflash with the Installer and disable wipe data so you retain all your data. Anyway, just know that there's risk with any unofficial solutions.

            Good evening.

            Thank you for this information.

As I mentioned in another topic, I rediscover UT with my Redmi and Focal.

            And it’s not satisfactory.

Many simple things are still not regulated while we have the nose on it.

Problems with rounded corners, for example.

What’s the point of trying to promote an OS that is not even able, out of box, to display the time correctly.

And for simple, obvious problems, many times pointed out for years by many users, there are still few or no simple solutions.

When they exist, they are solutions "not absolutely safe" or excessively loaded with gadgets.

Also for example, for the notch problems already mentioned, someone has already proposed a simple solution:

Add a line of parameters that allows you to choose the high, right and left margins, the width and distance of the notch.

I would have added that this solution, simple, would at the same time allow to set the width of the notch on a phone to which someone would have added a front camera cache.

There is a YouTube video of Lomiri Plus V1.8.

It is a proof that it is possible to do much more than what we are currently being offered, but also evidence that someone has already done so.

One of the most popular answers on this forum, is that developers are not enough numerous and not paid at all.

            OK.

But when one of these unpaid developers produces a result, why is it not integrated in full or in part?

            Thank you again.

But on other hand, it's been ten years that we have smartphones fully working to do smartphone things while the only other solutions are android, iOS, or dumb phones.

And Devs are doing their best to catch up Ubuntu 24.04 when canonical dropped UT back in 2017 at 15.04...

And for now you have about 20 devices that work pretty well on 20.04.

Without UBports we would have nothing anymore now.

Could you stop being negative and just accept nothing can be perfect?

When Devs will have achieved 24.04 stable, then, maybe they can do more trivial things.

You can see time on plain screen when lock screen is there.

When they exist, they are solutions "not absolutely safe"

Mandatory warning, but nothing really bad there for the "notch hack".
Just try, it's Linux, you can reinstall if something goes wrong, without loosing any data, the device is entirely yours, that's the beauty of open source, you can do things, you can brake things, you can tweak things, you can enhance things. @kugiigi is very active and commited, endorsed and very competent, just try his tool for your notch/rounded corners problem.

              But "legal" warning again :

It is highly recommended to use this only when you have access to UBports Installer so that you can reflash without wiping your data in case something bad happened.

                @Appointed Oh, I didn't expect a response like this 😅

That's just the reality of things. Nothing is really simple especially for projects like this that isn't from a for-profit organization. There are possible simple ways to deal with display cutouts but they're usually not ideal so it's not exactly simple. Even my Android phone with a punchhole still have wonky issues dealing with it. The hacks available are simple but works. I believe the one being worked on officially, deals with it in a more sophisticated way which apps can interface with.

Also, doing personal hacks is a lot easier than creating a proper solution that needs proper testing and cleaner code and integration to the system.

What you describe is a proof of concept.
What you witness is a working prototype.
Now make a quick search about how to go from a prototype to production and you'll find that it's way harder than you think.

Integration is not that easy as they have to think about all aspects of the system and address strange behavior with app X or Y, or features that are affected by the modification.

Be sure that people are invested and way more then the people expressing their frustration about things they don't understand.

I don't mean to be rude, I'm in the group of not the most invested and with a lot of things I don't understand.
I might be above average in some areas, but many people on this forum are...

Be careful with the statement that Ubuntu Touch is bad. I have also switched back to another system because many things are not available. However, Xenial has been very good. Focal is also stable. What bothers me about the Redmi Note 9 Pro Port is the installation. You have to install Android or Los 17.1 before you can install UT. Then searching for the entire firmware is annoying. Once the OS is set up, it's better to stick with OTA. Apps yes, that's a construction site, but with Webber you can help yourself a little. What is definitely missing is VoLte and Vowifi, which is why I switched. But to sum up, the guys are doing their best. Better 20 devices that run stable than 100 devices where none of them run well.
