        I have a new Fairphone 5 and I installed Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.1 (stable). The system boots fine but I cannot connect to a WiFi network. When I open the WiFi settings, all I can see is the menu entry "Previous networks". What could I do, to get the WiFi working?

          Did you install Android 13 first, before installing UT? That step in the guide is important for all hardware to work as expected.

            Hello

            did you actually enable the wifi button ? Not having the invisible network option is a sign of that, actually.

                @Ida_ This means that I need to downgrade to Android 13, if I previously had a higher Android version installed, right?

                  @Martin230799 Yes, or to flash Android 13 before beginning, I'm not sure you can downgrade from within 14/15 on the FP5. I lucked out when I bought mine and it had A13 installed.

                    Has this been confirmed? Have you tried just reinstalling again?
                    Do bear in mind if you downgrade from A14 to A13 do not try to relock the bootloader as Android rollback protection kicks in.

                      I have downgraded to Android 13 using the tool from the Fairphone website and then I re-installed Ubunu touch 24.04 stable. Now everythings works as it should.

                      Thanks for the help!

                        Hello !

                        I can confirm. I received my Fairphone 5 with android 15 and had to revert to android 13 to get the wifi working.

                          Hi Martin, sounds perhaps stupid but I have a FP4 and from time to time the same issue and switching off/on flight modus helps. Best+Good luck, Gerd

                            I just tried to install the Ubuntu-touch on a new FP5. It come with Android 13 and i made all the configs that android asked. Then i made the update to android 15. I had some issues with the install and finally i got it working. The Wifi never worked. However, after rebooting, the mobile operator connection stopped working!
                            Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.

                              Err, where did you get a 'new' FP5 with Android 13 ? I bought mine 6 months ago and it came with Android 14.
                              I duly downgraded it to 13 as, well, every post in the thread you are adding this post states clearly, and Wifi and cellular both work.

                                @gpatel-fr i ordered from a ES reseller that still had a new one in stock. I received it today.
                                So, you are saying that i have to reinstall the android version 13 and install UT (never upgrade to android 15)?

                                  i flashed the android 13 from FP5 back into the phone. And reboot it and configured the android 13. Then i tried again to install UT and appears to work all but after the end of the process, it just says with Fairphone splash screen and does not change.

                                    After 3 or 4 reties of installing UT, it worked and Wifi and the mobile operator are working! But the BT to connect keyboard and mouse, it does not work. It registered the peripherals, but even with the connection made, they do not work. Is there a trick to make those to work? Thanks.

                                      @Ida_ you are right! That was the solution. However, still took 4 to 5 retries to finally install UT correctly.

                                      Thank you.

                                        @Martin230799 check NetworkManager is enabled
                                        make sure this file looks like this:

                                        phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ cat /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
                                        [main]
                                        plugins=ifupdown,keyfile

                                        [ifupdown]
                                        managed=true

                                        [device]
                                        wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no

                                        if ifupdown managed is false, networkmanager is not managing the network interfaces.

                                        in my case it somehow works with it being false but that is most certianly some kind of bug, it should be true.
