OnePlus just informed me they will NOT unlock bootloader for a device on bought on Ebay.

via email, OnePlus said Ebay is NOT a OnePlus authorized reseller, and therefore they will NOT unlock the boot loader.
Anyone else have this problem ?I have wasted huge time (many hour over weeks) working toward getting a phone that will run Ubuntu Touch in USA, with functional VoLTE.
I cannot afford or justify more than about $100 USD for a used phone.
I will probably try to return the phone.
Very bad day !

Some N10 models can be unlocked without requesting a vendor key. If that's the case, you'll need to only enable bootloader unlock in Android settings and connect to the internet and then unlock it via fastboot on your PC. Make sure you flashed the recommended Android firmware first.
If that's not the case, then better return it. -
@idonthatevests Yes, I learned the hard way that the BE2028 model I bought, originally sold by T-Mobile, now carrier unlocked, was a mistake on my part.
Google AI answers suggest that BE2026 (USA version Factory unlocked ?) allows bootloader to be unlocked without going through Oneplus.
Since I have had 50% failure rate on Google (even some of the AI deep dive) answers factual accuracy recently, I don't know if BE2026 would really work.
And the only Ebay listing I could find that was BE2026 was listed around $180, whereas I paid about $75 for the (functional Android, but useless for UT) BE2028.
I really wish there were Pinned Notes, or similar solution, at top of UBPorts pages, to inform newbies such as myself of these critical details.
I wasted a lot of time and money. -

We very often don't know such details until one of us, like you, tries it. You could try informing your device's porter, and maybe they could make a note on the device page.

@Moem Great suggestion.
Since I am newbie, I did not think of this.
Also, I thought maybe I am doing something wrong.
Thank You -

That's to be expected. That's why I told you.

I can confirm that I have unlocked a OP N10 without a code. Bought in Canada, not sold by a telecom. I think it was probably BE2026?
What I don't understand is how Oneplus knows the phone was from eBay. Did you mention that in applying for a code to unlock the bootloader?
