*Solved* Installer get stuck waiting for device recovery mode during install
-
event though it's in the UBports recovery mode. it's like it's not seeing it anymore after it installs recovery. what am i missing?

@themoose007 You can try disconnecting the device, restarting the installer waiting till asked then reconnecting the device. That sometimes works. Can you let us know what device and what installer version.
Edit Also try different usb cables, it does make a difference. -
I sometimes need to reboot my PC, ( mostly when trying to copy files in to TWRP),it gets hung somehow, maybe....

@themoose007 which phone and which version of the installer? I had this problem with the nexus 4. I need to run adb as root to talk to the phone when its in recovery. (But only when its in recovery.) But I think this was fixed by version 0.1.21 or something...

Installer doesn't work with 16.04. I tried all of them from newest to oldest version with a deb package. Github post says 0.1.5 works (issue #39) but I don't use Winblows at all so dunno... what I do know is I had to install 18.04 on my laptop to flash my Nexus 5 with Ubuntu Touch 16.04/rc. :slapself:
Works really well though and now Google can't track me anymore.

Installer doesn't work with 16.04
@crito sorry, but that's not true. You should say that you didn't have success for any reason.
I've tried different installer packages, both in Ubuntu and in Debian. No problem installing xenial.
You also don't need to install 18.04 on your laptop, you can use a usb live stick or a VM for example.

Sorry, I should have clarified. Trying to install from Mac and Linux/Ubunutu 18.04 on to Nexus 5. Mac installer doesn't even see the device even though I can run fastboot device and it recognizes it. Linux sees it then installs the UBPort recovery but then refuses to continue installation.

I've solved it. Had to run as root to get it to work.

@themoose007 kudos, enjoy your new UT phone!

@themoose007 can you please tell which version of the installer you were using?
