The release notes for OTA4 states it will be at anytime after the 3rd Sept. So keep checking once a day, contain your excitement and your patience will be rewarded.
Or just use the installer ; )

Is the upgrade not from 16.04 RC (OTA 4) to OTA 5? Or have I misunderstood?

@brispete what is being discussed here is the ability to change from 15.04 to 16.04 stable(OTA 4) directly from the device itself for those on the RC and dev channels. OTA 5 is currently scheduled for Oct 5th.Hope this helps.

Seems like there was a delay or a communication error in the announcement, hopefully the RC and DEVEL branches get updated some time after september 3rd.

Hopefully there were no roadblocks, since the branches should be usefull for the work on OTA-5.

@gnu-mobile I don't believe there was a communication error. The change was to be implemented from the 3rd, and I have not heard anything to change that. I check my M10 once a day as I want to see how it all works with this method. Nothing so far and I'm just as impatient as everyone else for this update. What is it they say about patience : )
I will try and get some more info later and report back.

I think everybody understands work need to be done, with limited resources and it takes time, especially in projects like ubports. Just no need to use professional diverting talk with its typical reputation.

                  https://ubports.com/de_DE/blog/ubports-blog-1/post/ubuntu-touch-ota-4-release-166 :

If you are running Ubuntu Touch from the 15.04/devel or 15.04/RC channel, you will get an update to a 16.04-based image when you select 'updates' on your device at any time from the 3rd of September onward.

The problem with this information is, unfortunately, that nobody is getting an update and we're at a time after september 3rd. It might thus really have been better to say "sometime after september 3rd" (and maybe adding "before october 5th").

                  Well, next time, no problem.

FYI it seems there's an issue with the automatic updates from vivid (rc & devel) to xenial (rc & devel). It should be fixed soon.

@gnu-mobile I downloaded and installed UT 16.04 last night.

A HUGE THANKYOU to those who've been working so hard to make this happen.

@gnu-mobile vivid devel to xenial devel is working but Marius said today in the Q&A that they're slowing down rc channel upgrade for now.

You can install devel using that method or, if you want stable or rc channel, you can adb or ssh to your device and run system-image-cli -vvvv --switch ubports-touch/16.04/stable (change stable for rc if that's what you want). You can run that directly in your device terminal too, and of course that will work for devel as well.

Maybe the reason there is no automatic update shown is the following error. Is this something one needs to fix locally?

                                    ~# system-image-cli -vvvv --switch ubports-touch/16.04/rc
                                    ...
[systemimage] ... uncaught exception in state machine
                                    ...
AssertionError: Missing destination files: ['/var/lib/system-image/keyring.tar.xz', '/var/lib/system-image/keyring.tar.xz.asc']
                                    local_paths: [dbus.String('/tmp/blacklist.tar.xz'), dbus.String('/tmp/blacklist.tar.xz.asc')]
Exception occurred during update; see log file for details

Same thing happens with other channels, only for devel this happens for the file name channels.json.

@gnu-mobile there's a new update in the rc channel today. Have you tried to upgrade again?

@advocatux Just tried again switching to devel, stable and back to rc, all the time it said the software is up to date (showing Ubuntu touch Version 3, 15 and 61).
