My old, original, bq e4.5 Ubuntu edition is still functioning under the latest 15.10 version of the system available to it. I have been looking into migrating to UBports 16.04 version. All the instructions for such an update seem to assume that my phone is running Android as the starting point, but it isn't! I have downloaded the installer onto my Ubuntu 18.04 desktop. Is it safe to proceed with this installer, ignoring the references to Android, or should I hold off? My phone still works, and does what I want of it, but of course it hasn't had any security or functionality updates for ages.

Not an expert - but an enthusiastic user

@the_cougar_kid yes, you can use the ubports-installer 🙂

The install instructions are pretty clear to me but if you think they can/must be improved, you can PR your changes against https://github.com/ubports/docs.ubports.com/blob/master/userguide/install.rst

@the_cougar_kid It has been a while now as I am on 16:04, but I used the linux installer to change my Ubuntu 4.5 to UBPorts 15:04 and it worked well. When I then moved to 16 it tried to keep all the apps and other settings and for the most part was fine.

Maybe below the head line Install Ubuntu Touch there should be a sub head line Install on Ubuntu Touch devices to separate this better from Install on Android devices
