Marius earlier this week hinted that some people are less than supportive in the the wider Linux community about the work that he and others do in open source, at least that was my reading. I just wanted to say that I REALLY appreciate what you (the wider UB Ports family) have done for us that want a Linux phone. I really enjoy the Q & As (currently watching 94 late), mainly because I see a range of people across the world that really enjoy each other's company and working on a project that they are proud of. They are always fun to watch. I wish I could get more involved and help. I do little more than buy and use the phones and run the software, but nothing make me happier than using a Ubuntu phone.
So, please keep doing what you are doing, and I for one appreciate all that you do.

RE: Pinephone Rant
I can understand the nature of this comment, but for me it was never about having a daily driver, at least not in the short run, but in supporting an excellent community of individuals. Pre Ubuntu days, I used Suse and probably paid more in fees by each new addition than if I had purchased a windows license, but it was not about the money as such, but the open source community and helping them as I could. I have never been a developer, though have tried a few times, and the only way I can help out is by purchasing stuff and promoting the community at every opportunity. I have both a Braveheart and UB Ports PP and neither are usable, though the BH currently have Mobian on it to see how it is going. My DD is a Nexus 5 which works perfectly. Before that I used a BQ 4.5 for a number of years. For the money I have spent on these I could have bought a proprietary phone and had done with it, but what would be the point?
As was said, part of this process is to help out as it is a small but growing community. My next phase (hopefully my students are reading this) is for my FE computing students to get involved. We have a PP on order and they are keen to solve (with community assistance) some of the outstanding problems on the PP and gain useful experience in the process.

RE: Ubuntu Touch is working poorly for me on my FP2
@advocatux Have to echo all of this. I have used my E4.5 for over 4 years now and the last year (I think) with UT. I have had little glitches here and there, but nothing to stop me doing my job. Everything I need on it works. End of.

RE: I have ended my contract with the UBports Foundation
@unisuperbox I mirror everything said here. I totally understand. You put your heart and soul into something 24/7. There is sometimes only one outcome. Please rest up and do what is best for you. The community you have helped build will continue and reflect what you have made of it, though will be diminished without you.

RE: Nexus 5.
@3arn0wl Sort of related to all of these and as a supplement. I bought myself a second hand N5 as I needed it for personal stuff. My main phone is a BQ4.5 which I have used for over 4 years now with my job. The N5 I bought lasted a month before the screen went doollaly (technical term I believe). I really liked the phone, so it was sort of a test. I then bought a "boxed new one". I figure that as my BQ has been good for 4 years, so will the N5 be and the advantage, as mentioned above, is that it is easy to fix. The "old" one I thought I would work on as a back-up for my kids. I bought a new battery (£6) and a new LCD digitiser (£17). There are loads of videos on how to replace this. It was easy to replace it and of course install 16:04. I now have 2 very usable N5s. The unboxed one, as I can replace any broken bits, should see me good for a decade.

RE: Remove install download
@advocatux That did the trick. Should have realised. Thanks for the help.

RE: Email on 16.04
@fishfingers44 The beta version mentioned in the link here works well for me. I have it on my work phone (BQ 4.5) which I use daily, and my own phone (Nexus 5). On my work phone I have been using it for a couple of weeks without issue.

RE: Access to social websites with BQ Aquaris E4.5
@turgore There are some Facebook (Sailbook) and Twitter apps in the App Store which work well for me (on my 4.5).

RE: App scaling issue on 20.04 (dev)?
I have noticed the same for Teleports on Pixel 3A r570. I have not checked the other apps.

Pixel 3a camera focus
I have been using the 3a for about a month now and it is excellent. The one issue I have, and apologies if this is written else where as I couldn't find anything in a search, is that the camera only appears to work well up to about 1m. The pictures on images within a metre are really clear, but anything beyond that are slightly out of focus and not usable. Anyone else experience this? Suggestions greatly appreciated.

RE: Install UT on Google Pixel 3a XL
@lakotaubp Sorry I was away and could not reply as I didn't have my login details on the road. Still no success. I tried all the suggestions on that link too. I have access to a windows and Mac machine now so will give those a try. The process of loading 9.0 seems fine and no errors, but the installer just hangs at the format user space stage. I left it for well over an hour so assume that there is an issue. I have read on other forums that I might need to format the partitions with ext4, but not sure how to do that yet. I will get there I hope. Meanwhile, my trusty N5 is here.

RE: Install UT on Google Pixel 3a XL
@saveurlinux I have tried all of those. Getting some error messages in the terminal using the deb version of the installer but it is still not getting anyway. With the snap version it appears to flash a few files to the 3a, but then doesn't do much. Odd.

RE: Install UT on Google Pixel 3a XL
@ieuserie this is quite an old thread, but only just getting to a 3a. I have mnanaged to get everything set up and the installer appears to flash and install UB Ports, but it sits saying cleaning up and formatting user data partition for ever and never seems to complete. Same after 3 or 4 goes.
Ideas? Am I not waiting enough?
