@1896er It would be great if everything always worked perfectly and nobody had to worry about anything. But unfortunately life and software do not work like that.
Libertine is an experimental feature, and the OS is made by volunteers working in their spare time. If you run into issues, the best thing to do is to report bugs and make pull requests to fix them. Snarky posts on a forum won't solve problems or make software fit your needs better.

Not to take this off topic - but there are a ton of 10" x86 tablets and 2 in 1's out there on the market that can be sourced readily and affordably - that can easily run standard desktop Ubuntu (or the other desktop distro of your preference) if you wish to use LibreOffice and Firefox, and have numerous other standard "office" software with no issues at your fingertips. I have a Dell 7140 2in1 that I've used exactly for these kinds of purposes for a while in fact.
Best regards,

I'm sorry about my "snarky posts". It was never my intention to give a bad impression about the work of developers and the OS in general! Sorry! I have great respect about the work for developers! And I like the OS very much!
As a beginner in UT it's sometimes a little bit frustrating to get success in all areas of the OS.
Best regards!
Florian

Unfortunately my statement of 11 Oct 2019, 16:53 is not the whole truth. LibreOffice and Firefox are running sometimes on libertine (but sometimes not). Unfortunately, it does not always work when I create a new container.
So if necessary, remove the existing container and build a new one. Maybe the following PPAs will help as well:
ppa: ubports-developers / overlay
ppa: ubuntu-touch-core apps-drivers / collection
ppa: libreoffice / ppa
ppa: mozilla team / firefox-next -
By my side, I have installed LibreOffice through Libertine in a Nexus 4. It works. But the problem is that there is no keyboard to enter any entries...
-
Let's be clear: there is currently no interest in using libreoffice and Firefox under Libertine. It is absolutely not functional and usable on a daily basis. The only interest is on an experimental basis and to see that the Libertine device works as well as possible.

In fact, I am looking for an app to open and modify a .xls file. I did not find anything to do that... This is the reason why I tried LibreOffice. And it is obviously not usable.
-
@lool_lauris You can connect a bluetooth keyboard (+ mouse).
But yes Libertine is intended for compatibility for desktop usage.UT's goal is convergence, so one day we might use a convergent app to edit spreadsheet and docs with and app made for phone, tablet and desktop, adapting to the screen size and changing how the user interact with the app.
But this is a long road.
And designing an app to edit spreadsheet on mobile is very hard to achieve given the little screen space available. -

OK but I have to modify the .xls file when I am preparing a glider on the airfield runway. So I have only the phone and not keyboard...

@lool_lauris if you don't make any effort...

Going a bit off topic herexlsut can you use a simpler technical solution? like editing a text file with the ... five ? or so numbers you actually have to modify? does it have to be xls?

Thanks for your answer.
In fact, it is a spreadsheet with equations. It is therefore an .xls file but can just as easily be an.ods file. However, I need the formulas.... -

I think you should probably take this Excel file to a PC and open it there, and maybe create a spreadsheet on Google Sheets with the same structure, then use the Google Sheets web app on the phone, assuming you'll have good data connection at that point. It will be more reliable I think.

Everything except google !
Seriously, it is a good idea. I will try to find a thing in that way. Thank you. -
@lool_lauris You can try framacalc, it's a bit restrictive, but can be compatible with simple formulas.
