      Ubuntu Touch Photography

      Does Ubuntu Touch make your photos better or worse? Is the Xperia the best, just because it has 23 MP? You might be surprised after reading this deep dive into the topic...

        I think as well, that the UT camera app doesnt work bad with the Xperia X camera. Especially when light conditions are good. Nevertheless people shouldn't not expect too much of the Xx camera. By opening the bootloader the DRM keys get lost, which are somehow related to the camera as well. Pictures easily get blurry and how you have pointed out, the quality in low light is just bad.

        I have no idea if that can be resolved - as far as I understand - its not an app issue but hardware/driver issue.

          What has happend to this topic?

          Now there are more devices (Vollaphone, Pocophone, OP6 etc...) which run UT, therefore It would be quite interesting, how they compare to each other.

            when I first proposed that we collect some examples of photos taken with the Camera app in Ubuntu Touch, I had expected to write that since mobile phone camera software on other platforms has reached stratospheric levels of sophistication, the story would be about how bad – or surprisingly acceptable – the output from our devices might be. A rather unscientific glance shows a proprietary Android camera application weighing in at 26 megabytes, with Open Camera comprising 6 megabytes. Even beyond those, there are system mysteries which tweak and preen camera output, unseen.

                  Does not having a working zoom or flash make your photos better or worse? I bet you can guess...
                  (I can't read the article, it gives me a 404.)

                          @Moem I think that can be fixed. But for me - despite the fact I don't have Instagram or Facebook - using a Xx 4 years, I really want to have a device which makes decent photo. Its just annoying, when you are out biking and have to take every time reflex camera with you just in case you want to take some pictures.

                          By the way the main point I haven't ordered a VollaPhone yet.

                          @Lakotaubp: Thanks!

                            I'm assuming it will be fixed in a future update. For now, however, it's suboptimal.
