I've got a OnePlus One 64GB, found notes saying camera zoom wouldn't function, is this still accurate?

I think it is more a matter of 'feature not implemented' than something of a bug.

And autofocus has also issues. This wont be fixed anymore, instead we will port OPO to Halium 7.1, and then fix eventual problems. The 5.1 version is unfortunately very hackish.

@UdenGoogle - unfortunately camera zoom, flash, and autofocus are all still broken on the OPO, and will not be fixed any time soon.

I think this page really need to be reworked : https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/

For now, it seems that OPO is fully supported device, meaning that everything works (full bar).

I say that because if i didn't already have a MX4 (wjch is working quite good), and as a new comer that choose a device in this list, i would tell me "well, i'll get OPO, as i want everything to work on my uTouch phone", and then, i'd get very desapointed, that something like camera, dosen't work like it should be.

2015-Now : Meizu MX4 (Stable) for daily use
                      Spare : Nexus 5 (Stable)

I keep seeing that and I'm afraid that I don't have any clue what it means for me as a user. Will we get a new version? What is the difference? Will we need to reinstall?

@Moem To simplify the answer, it is a question of modernizing the kernel - or rather the material abstraction of the Android kernel - from version 5 to version 7 (Nougat if I well remember).

Halium is a collaborative project to unify the Hardware abstraction layer for projects which run GNU/Linux on mobile devices with pre-installed Android.

A few UT main flagships devices are concerned by this new port which started around the beginning of this year.
No idea of the time to wait yet.... (Maybe @Flohack could better answer ?)

On the other hand, the update will be released to the smartphone system updates - like OTA updates do come. So don't worry, nothing to reinstall.

This new port should notably correct the problems related to the cameras of the smartphones concerned (Nexus 5, OplusOne...).

                          Nexus 5 stable
If God has a computer, it must be a GNU/Linux

@Keneda - I agree with you that the "maturity" ratings on some of the devices listed on that page seem to be not quite in line with how much of the hardware's functions are fully supported, and it would be better if the rating indicated that factor more accurately.

                                Best regards,

@stanwood Yes Halium ports are in the works for the core devices. Though we face issues here and there. The biggest one thats unclear till now is how we gonna migrate the devices over? Since the new Halium devices will have a different way how to store the rootfs and system image. I am not sure we can offer it as a drop-in replacement.

Thus said I will try to continue with the OPO port for Halium 7.1, jus tnow finished my other port for the Nexus 6P πŸ™‚

Most likely, we will. And we will probably get it in normal updates, when it's ready.

@UdenGoogle I can confirm on my test build zoom, flash and autofocus are working very well. However, it has other instabilities like wonky WiFi, its definitely not ready to be deployed.
