Is there an Ubuntu Touch app to measure sound decibels?
-
Hi.
I was wondering if such an app exists or is in the works.
Thanks. -
@Opolork Not sure don't think so but have you checked here https://open-store.io/
-
@Opolork I searched some times ago and didn't find anything.
But things may have changed. -

Hi lakotaubp. Yes, I looked. No joy.

BTW - I got the idea after watching this video - one part mentions that smartphone apps exist to measure decibel levels.

@Opolork Maybe time for your first app : )

@Opolork
Good idea from @Lakotaubp
You can join the bootcamp on Matrix, we will help you along the way : #ub_bootcamp:matrix.org -
Alas, I'm not a programer.

No one was, until their first program.

Not everyone can make a program - at least not a complex one anyway.
-
Most people have more potential than they give themselves credit for.
-
@Opolork
I don't mean to insist, but @arubislander is right you like others have potential.
Coding is mostly reading and typing English with some fancy symbols around@wayneoutthere is learning python (the hard way) and we can help in the process if you are willing.
I don't know what challenges await in this endeavor, but it doesn't seem too complex.And last word, if you hesitate maybe a simple webapp may give you a preview of what coding for UT is.

I found that creating a single LADSPA module sink removes one of the only advantages PulseAudio provides, which is that it's able to detect whether headphones are plugged in and use a different stored volume for the ALSA sink depending on whether the headphones or speaker are in use.

Hi arubislander. I agree with you on that but programing is not for everyone.

Hi AppLee. I tried programing in the past and just cannot get my head around it. I also have very little free time after work.

@Opolork I did not intend to troll you, nor pressure you or insist that you try programming. And I salute you for having given it a try. It was more a general comment to encourage people who might be looking for a feature or app that is not yet available on UT to take it as an opportunity to acquire the necessary skills to implement that feature themselves. After all, that is how most successful projects and popular features have come about in the open source world: someone scratched their own itch, and others found their solution useful.

@arubislander I understand.
