Here I start a list to report which apps should be removed from the OpenStore since they are not working.

        • Discord (by Tesla) does not work

uTorch doesn't work on the FP2. I presume it works on other smartphones though.

How can you trust that an app really won't send some company your location data, when you tell it not to? The only way you can trust a program not to do something it isn't supposed to do is if it is free software. ~ RMS

Yes it does. As has been proved apps that fail on one device can work on another. Could I suggest that rather than a list of apps that my or my not work on this or that device the first port of call should really be the app maintainer. The info is usually detailed under the app in the OpenStore. If there is no maintainer maybe you could take over ( if you have the skills that is, and many of us don't). There is a real danger that a list will sit here and nothing happen.

@Lakotaubp Cheers, lakotaubp, for the info. Alas, I'm not a programer.

Maybe some long abandoned (but maybe still technically working) webapps could also be removed?

I feel quality over quanity in regards to webapps would be better. Right now they really clutter the OpenStore.

Managing each app is not the appropriate way to deal with the problem.
The android store have way more apps and people don't cry about the crappy apps.
I don't like having webapps on the store, but that is my preference.

The best way to do it is to allow us to set preferences and filter out the webapps.
Even if we miss some good ones.

That's a feature we can work on and which exist on the web version.
Plus there are recent improvements with an indicator of the app's type : that's very helpful.

@Opolork as a non-programmer (like me) learning how to deal with Github, especially 'issues' is a great thing you can do and learn easily. I find 9/10 when I report a new bug, the maintainer has never encountered it themselves and are thankful for a heads up.

As a consumer in the open source software arena, this is I feel a minimum requirement skill for full participation. Definitely worth learning.

Yes, that could be a good idea. I like the filter on the web version.

I see 2 potential problems with the webapps filling the store, mainly for newcomers:

                            • it gives the wrong idea that there are a lot of apps available, even though many only are webapps. This could be misleading at first.
                            • it is not easy at first to see that there are different kind of apps and how different they are.

On the other hand, if one installs UT on their phone, maybe they know better and the webapps are not really a problem. I think that the result list in Open store shows clearly which one is an app and which one a webapp.

If people want to go on with the idea of deleting "dead" or outdated apps, an idea could be to add a button in the Open store to report the app. When clicked, it could send an email to the author to ask if they want to remove the app or if they think that it should stay in the store. And after several "reports" and no change from the author, it could put the app on a list for someone to review and eventually remove manually.

@geekvine: looking forward, would already be happy with an explanation of how to get www.discordapp.com running on UBports browser.

@chrisse: a report button would be the solution, since there is no link/email to contact the developer...
