@rocket2nfinity Never thought of that. I'm prone to assumptions.I'll look for the electrical matchup next time. I ordered a PolarCell battery last night. Now have to wait on shipping.

Looking at the Get Touch page, should the software be downloaded after my phone arrives? Does the installer need downloading to pc? Which installer do I need? I have Ubuntu side by side on my pc, and the arriving Nexus 5 has Android. i don't know which Ubuntu version applies to my Bionic Beaver which I think is 18.04... Watching the video of the installation of Touch it looks real easy. Like they said, the installer does all the work.

@jjconstr Install the snap version of the installer and use Ubuntu on your pc. You then will need to install snapped first. Installers are here https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer/releases/tag/0.4.18-beta. you can do this all before your device arrives. There is plenty of info on installing snaps on the web. have a look and any issues just pop back.

@Lakotaubp UBports site has the snap installer, right? I saw 5 links on the github page, but none said snap.

@jjconstr The instructions for the snap are right at the top, but as I said have a look at how to install snap packages on Ubuntu first and give it a go.

@Lakotaubp And you do it well. Reading about snaps, it is said Ubuntu 18.04 has snapd preinstalled, ready to go. So, I'm thinking the installer still needs to be downloaded. I might try the command to do so,

                  $ sudo snap install ubports-installer

The command line for installing UBports-installer worked like a charm! Do I wait for the phone to arrive before downloading Touch?

Also, I cant find the Introduction Category. It was there before my first post.

@jjconstr You just need to wait for your device. There is nothing as such to download, everything get pushed to the device by the installer. Sorry what introduction category?

I also have the Polarcell in my N5. Seems to work great. I just have the strange situation that it doesn't hold charge when the phone is completely turned off. It will still drain the battery in maybe 3 days. Anyone can confirm this?

@poVoq I noticed something similar but way faster with the PinePhone.
Fully charged and turned off the battery is draining after 24 to 32 hours (I actually don't have exact amount of time)

@poVoq Had that happen twice. The second time, I noticed the phone had hung in the shut down process - black screen, but still power to the screen (the LED at the edge was still lit). I manually powered off by holding the power button for 10 seconds or so.

Was waiting to see if it was just a random error before trying to figure out what's going on and file a bug report. The fact it happened to a Pinephone tells me it's not a problem specific to the N5. Now I'm wondering how often it's happening to others.

@rocket2nfinity ah, but that doesn't sound like what I am seeing. My N5 screen is definilty off and by all other means the phone seems to be actually turned off. It also happens all the time, not only occasionally.

@poVoq Then you may have a component failing either in the battery or phone. Does it do the same with another battery installed?

It's the only battery I have, as the original one before was completly borked. But yeah, might be a hardware issue.

Update on Nexus 5 UT install: stumbled through by trial and error for want of knowledge. UT is lovely! Swapping my Verizon SIM card, found no network. Calling them for help, they said the IMEI is incompatible with their system. In more detail, this Nexus 5 does not have HD Voice. More than a year ago they said Verizon would allow no more phones on their system unless they have HD Voice. I did not recall that when buying this phone.

Can anyone say what carriers will work with this phone? My area has only Verizon, att and consumer cellular. There are some satellite carriers also. Their coverage areas are not real good here.
                                        Nexus 5 imei 35823905251....
Is this ID a CDMA or GSM phone?

Do some of the Nexus 5 s have HD Voice? Verizon is the only carrier with signal at our house.

                                        How do I tag posts?

@jjconstr Verizon has always been difficult. Try PagePlus (Verizon network). They will let you on. There are other Verizon based MVNOs as well.

As for at&t network MVNOs - Cricket, Red Pocket, Straight Talk has Verizon options as well as GSM options, etc.
