@Edward-Wilhelm Good so you have that. In android actions clear cache then factory reset and try again maybe with a different usb cable.

Okay I did that, and reb-booted. Now I am back to the powered by ubuntu screen. I am no longer able to get back to recovery mode.

I did the down keystroke/power button combo several more times, and I was able to get it back to recovery mode.

@Edward-Wilhelm try leaving the phone in recovery then connect to the pc and just restart the installer and see how far you get. You've not had any battery issues at all have you?

I got the installer to recognizes the device again. It then told me to hold down button + power which I did. Then the connection was lost.

@Lakotaubp Okay I re ran adb devices in recovery and it could see the phone. I re-did the installer. Now magic is happening! It says success! Now the phone says it is installing update. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!

Now to figure out how to get a large sim card instead of a small sim card in the midst of a global pandemic.

You got this sim card "as it" or had to extract it from a bigger form? Anyway you may dumped the piece of plastic... If yes then : https://www.amazon.com/s?k=sim+adapter&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

                                          Glad you suceeded installing.
