I made a new boot screen image. (for nexus 5)

@Flohack
Thank you, I understand. On my device I have this ugly boot screen (still saying 'powered by Android' yugh!). I know there have been some nice design alternatives, however the warning by the dev states that implementing it might cause the phone to be bricked, not willing to take that chance for a splash screen. If succeeded it might cause interference with regular updates
Having a 'default' and generic splash screen will get the uniformity in UBports supported devices. Could we have an option/slider in 'Settings' to activate the generic splash screen. I'd then be more willing to show my device to friends and family
Thanks

@3T_Ed sorry no slider possible, its a partiton that needs to be flashed from recovery, and every device needs a manually crafted image for that.

@3T_Ed [...] we had already discussions where people disliked our design and then complained they have to reflash manually after each OTA.[...]
I thought it was a hardware limitation.
I think we need to find a good design common to all devices (having in mind each device limitation).I was thinking:
- respect the brand logo as much as possible
- dark if possible (white bootscreens burns :D)
- elegant «powered by» and «supported by»

I think the design is too bold overall

@CiberSheep its a hardware limitation but we could get quite some number of boot splashes deployed, at least on the old devices. E.g. Samsung will be PITA. They dont like that something messes with their bootsplash.
Remember, this logo is generated by the bootloader, before even any bit of Ubuntu Touch is loaded. So its under full control of the vendor, and thats also why there is a risk involved, basically up to bricking a device (at least softbrick but it could be even worse).

Manufacturer or OS?
elegant «powered by» and «supported by»
That is bit tricky IMHO, Ubuntu getting their logo for recognition, nothing else if I understand right, so it's not true say support or powered by
@CiberSheep So how you would recommend to address that in one single line? we can also, leave those icons with no line at all (better I think).

Well, we are using Ubuntu so, I think it should still be stated. And it's being developed by UBports. That's why

Ok. Check this two

@Kaizen Wow i haven't been here in a while! https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fairphone_logo.svg is a SVG of the FP logo for you to use in the future to make it look a little less blurry. I prefer the one on the right personally, but I would make yumi white and remove the backwards ubuntu logo. I'll try to make a version like it and make a flashable version for the phones, but it's been a while so it might not be perfect
-
@hammerhead That was for the demo proposition. I have the entire logo list of all manufacture somewhere in SVG I was just lazy to use, but thank you for suggesting a better one!
It's not up to me to decide. I'm just a fixer. When the foundation approves it, I will send the guidelines — I'm just trying to create a standard for all. What can I do? I know everyone has it's own preferences...
BTW - The left one is the one we can legally use. Not sure about the circle of friends tho, I need to check it again.

IIRC the foundation is allowed to use the circle of friends by Canonical.
But double checking doesn't hurt.
