On Android it is possible to choose the type of mobile network, when you enter Engeneering Mode. (usually you can access by dialing *#*#4636#*#*)
I mean "LTE only", "WCDMA only", "LTE and WCDMA", and etc.
Is there way to do something similiar on UT?
Is it possible at all,
can such a feature appear in the future?

you can choose your preferred network in Settings > Cellular:
the options are listed under Connection Type:
a) 2G only
b) 2G/3G
c) 2G/3G/4G -
@Kyrylo under system settings, cellular, connection type: select 2g, 3g, 4g.
2g is GSM
3g is umts/hspa
4g is LTE -

@Kyrylo Ahh... Selecting LTE data or LTE VoLTE is not possible in Ubuntu Touch. However, if your carrier uses VoLTE only for phone calls, it does connect - at least on my Nexus 6P. I've been waiting to see if it does on other handsets other than the Pinephone and N6P

@Kyrylo you can set UT to use LTE, CDMA or GSM in the settings, but if it fails to connect to the preferred network it will use the next available.
for 2G will use only 2G
for 2G/3G will use 3G if available, else will work on 2G
same for 2G/3G/4G (4G preferred)I think Ofono was modified to work like that to prevent connection lost problems when using only one connection type.

What would be great is to be able to select prefered network directly from quick settings in dropdown menu.

IMHO that is not as good as it sounds.The drop down menu is really convenient and easy to use I agree. But it is already really crowdy and the more we add the less it's efficient.
Changing the favorite network is not something that one has to do. You set it up and leave it be.
Or you can switch when crossing borders but not something most people will do. -

That's something really usefull for battery life...
You want to watch vidéo on your prefered video site, or browse that hungry bandwich site, full speed on 4G, then, you want to save your battery, so you switch back to 3G or 2G.
That's something that one can have to do more than once a day.

Fair point but imagining how you can use some feature doesn't make it useful for most.
Many setting in the drop down menu are useless for me and make it less easy for me to get the useful stuff.I don't think that how most people want to use their phone: always manually switching network.
And not sure it is even usefull because searching for antenas nearby is power hundry... Test needed
Oh and in your case you can keep the settings page open: easy fast access

I don't think that how most people want to use their phone: always manually switching network.
Most people are carrying charger with them (i see them at work plugged everywhere), i prefer switching and plugging at home.
And maybe people would much more do that if it was in dropdown menu, who knows.And not sure it is even usefull because searching for antenas nearby is power hundry... Test needed
As i told on another topic, 48hrs mini in iddle in 3G, 24hrs maxi in iddle in 4G, approx, with my MX4, switching network never killed my battery.

Don't misunderstand, i just said that would be great to have choice in dropdown quick menu, it's been five years i launch setting to do it, never killed me.
