Hello All, I've run into an issue when trying to install ubuntu touch on my OnePlus one. I seem to have completely bricked it. the issue started with it bootlooping on the opo logo screen for a while and now I can't get anything out of it I can't even get it into fastboot mode.

I've looked into trying to restore it to factory but every single tutorial I've come across is for windows machines and I run linux. Honestly I don't care about getting it back to factory defaults I just figured that if I could do that I could install ubuntu touch. But if there is a way to unbrick it and just get right on to the installation that would be great. But any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Gentle-Ent Are you using the snap version if not try that with wipe option marked. Does fastboot devices typed in a terminal show your device. Then you can run fastboot reboot bootloader and try the installer again.

So I'm running Pop-Os which has a decent built in package manager so I didn't install using the snap method. When I type in fastboot into terminal I get fastboot: usage: no command

Try with another usb cable, also connect it to an USB 2.0 port.. patience and don't worry, your device is not bricked..
When using the installer select your device manually etc..

I'm testing a new cable. Here is the version of ABD I have installed:

                      Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.39
                      Version 1:8.1.0+r23-5ubuntu2

@malditobastardo When trying to run the ubports installer i get stuck at the screen where it says to reboot to bootloader since I cannot do this. The phone doesn't respond to any pressed or held buttons. And if I select continue while holding the said buttons it just doesn't see the phone at all.

@Gentle-Ent Hi, I haven't been around here for some time and it's a bit late now in september, but if you're still looking for a solution, I've had a similar experience with an OPO a few months ago and this helped me out:
                          https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541

After having restored this factory image on the phone I was able to install UT succesfully with the snap version of the Ubports installer.

Have you fixed your OnePlus one phone?

I am running into the same situation.
The phone was working with Lineage OS, all fine.
I tried to install Ubuntu Touch with UBPorts. It started to flash it, rebooted and got stuck to the +Ubuntu Touch UBPorts boot screen.

                            • Power + Down (recovery) doesn't work, boot to same U-Touch screen
                            • Power + Up : same
                            • Power + UP + Down : same
Beside, when I plug the USB to the computer, the phone automatically powers on.
One of the method to refresh the phase uses a ColorOS, another one Qualcom utilities. But none can see any devices.
I tried, windows, Mac, linux. All same.

Did someone has any change un-bricking the phone at this point?

                            Thanks.

                              Ok, new update.

I was able to reboot in recovery mode, after several full days trying without success.

The phone not being connected to USB:

1 - I removed the cover, removed the camera/flash cover to unplug the battery.

                              2 - I unplugged the battery

3 - left it unplugged when "drained" the cap by "jumping" the 2 connection of the power button with a screw driver for a minute or so.

3 - Then, I plugged the battery back

4 - with one screw driver I jumped the two right connection of the volUp button, then keeping the jump, I jumped th Power button connection for about 10s.

5 - the phone vibrated and rebooting in the Ubuntu Touch recovery

6 - plugged I was able to restart UBPorts flashing. All went well, the phone rebooted couple times itself and is now up and running Ubuntu Touch.

                                  @snooppy is not the OP.

As OP didn't log on since August, I'll mark it as solved.
@Gentle-Ent if you come by and still have the issue, feel free to mark unsolved and post a comment.
