        Two totally different questions:

        • I don't currently own a Xiami Redmi note 7 but I would like to be sure in the event, as what I read doesn't really enlighten me : does the UBports installer unlock the bootloader currently? Yes or No? If yes, which version(s)?

        • Is the transition to ubuntu 20.04 LTS going to be as complicated for apps and webapps as it was when we went from 15.04 to 16.04 ? Or will apps and webapps remain compatible as they are?

Well, on Redmi Note 7, UBports Installer will ask you to unlock the bootloader yourself, using the MI unlock tool. (it will give you the right link).
It's important to carefully follow UBports Installer instructions.

There are a lot of talks about the current 3G shutdown, especially in the USA, but also in many countries.

It seems that VoLTE will become the only way to make phone calls in the short to medium term. (really?)

At the Q&A 95 on February 27, it was explained to us that a potentially promising hypothesis for the development of this technology for Ubuntu Touch (and for other Linux mobiles OS as well) was being studied.

Do we know more about this at present time?

            Thank you very much beforehand.

              Hello,

Has anyone tried the uHome 'home screen' app by Pavel, if so (or not), what do you make of it and it as an idea as a viable homescreen 'replacement'?

              regards.πŸ™‚

It is apparent from recent Q&A sessions that the UT team is under resourced as it often asks for assistance in developing the OS, and evidently you have not been overwhelmed by offers to do so. Crowd funding campaigns seem to be both popular and successful, so have you considered something similar in order to hire somebody on a limited contract to undertake some aspect of the core development that is not specific to a particular device or a particular application?
                    Cliff.

@stanwood Ok thanks for this info. But do you know if the installer says that we can unlock with an Ubuntu laptop ? Or the unlock is only with windows ? Because if we start with the installer on an Ubuntu Laptop and if we must use a windows laptop to unlock..

@xray2000 Ok. Thanks for all the info. Not especially for me but for everyone who want a Redmi note 7 any advice or unlocking procedure will always be appreciated.

Therefore, the unlocking procedure imposes to create an account and to provide personal data (tel, mail..) which go to China?!! Is that right ?

Hello, first of all I would like to thank you for being able to answer our questions, it's very nice to be able to share directly with the team responsible for this OS, I don't remember having seen that elsewhere, bravo.

                                      I have 2 questions :

                                      1. I see Halium 7.1 for Oneplus One is ongoing as a test. As both Oneplus One and Nexus 5 have mostly same hardware, do you think you can port Halium 7.1 to the Nexus 5 ? Or is there any blocking point preventing to do it, and so what is the issue please ?

                                      2. Do you intend to integrate a canvas fingerprint blocker in Morph browser ? Here is a link from the source code of a Qt web browser called qutebrowser that could implement this function, what do you think ?

                                      Thank you very much !

@Rondarius @Flohack : Well, sorry I should have dug a little deeper, the good news is that my N5 has halium 7.1 hehe !

EDIT : I add another question, therefore, I recapitulate my two questions :

                                            1. Do you intend to integrate a canvas fingerprint blocker in Morph browser ? Here is a link from the source code of a Qt web browser called qutebrowser that could implement this function, what do you think ?

                                            2. When I received my Nexus 5, I have tested all features in Android (Wifi, data, GPS, mic, etc.), then I have installed Ubuntu Touch. I searched on the forum why First Fix GPS take so long (several minutes compared to ~3 seconds on Android), and I saw here and there that A-GPS is not used in Ubuntu Touch, only GPS is used, however the purpose is missing. Therefore my second question is : is there any reason why A-GPS is not used (too complicated to implement, or architecture incompatibility, or license issue) ?

                                            Thank you again
