Over the many months I have used UT, I have been looking for a good way to use Matrix. Even though we have FluffyChat I've found it's pretty useless for most things except chat notifications.

Solution? Use the desktop version of Element (make a webapp for it) and sign into FluffyChat, which will give you Matrix notifications. Granted Element works best sideways on the phone.

@totalrando Hello, I have to thank you for this workaround.

I am sad that Element isn't in Ubuntu Touch because Fluffy Chat seems not up to date (according to a review in the open store).

@prog-amateur The Element app would have to be programmed by their team (for an official app) or an independent debeloper for a compatible app. You can find some folks who are doing things with Fluffychat by searching for it.

The advantage of desktop Element is- despite the missing button symbols- is the ability to send files, pics and emojis.

@prog-amateur Also, if you are new to UT, you can make an Element web app with Webber in the App store.

FluffyChat seems to work fine for me minus syncing sometimes, I suppose using element web might work well if you use a phone with a physical keyboard, such as the PinePhone or Fx tec, I dont imagine it would be to useable without them.

Then you could enjoy features like the new spaces, and encrypted chats without installing a deb package, however a up to date native app with these features will always be better than a webapp, just needs more love and attention.

@phoenixlandpirat I use Element web with the UT keyboard fine, It's just easier to use sideways for me. Fluffy just doesn't work for me; I can't sync it at all and as I understand it, not much can be done until certain upgrades. I prefer web apps as I don't have to wait for native app support.

@phoenixlandpirat I like fluffyChat but since some time I do not receive any more notification 😞
