I only received my Volla a few weeks ago with UT pre-installed. I am wary of updating to OTA 22 in case the phone is bricked and I lack the knowledge to fix it.

Has anybody actually applied the update? What was your experience?

@davealbiston The Volla Phone should be OK, it is theVolla Phone X that had the 'warning' against it for this upgrade.

I updated my Volla Phone X OK but there are a few issues. You can not turn Blue Tooth off. If you turn wifi off from the pull down indicators the button dissapears so you can't turn it back on again, but power off and turn on sorts it. Airplane mode only turns the cellular radio off, not wifi or BT.

On the plus side fingerprint recognition works and the browser seams really slick.

Hopefuly the issues will get sorted.

@davealbiston If you speak of Volla, all is right for me. I would just advise you not to try to activate the bluetooth. Not only may it not work, but you may have problems disabling it. But it isn't an OTA-22 issue.
          All other features work fine.

@davealbiston I have updated my volla phone day one to ota22, haven't experienced any issue, not even with bluetooth. I think it's safe to go.

Ps: if anything goes amiss, you can reset your phone with ubports installer from your computer (i never had to use it yet though).

Bluetooth seem to work fine on my volla phone. OTA updates went well for me so far 🙂

Bluetooth is a murky world on UT. It tends to work OK on simple devices like speakers and headphones.... but not in all cases. Conect it to your car's audio system for hands free calling..... well you might get lucky but generally no.

See this for the definitive position

@ian Volla Phone (standard version) Bluetooth on Ubuntu Touch seems to work fine, at least better that many other devices.

So far I did test calls in car with Seat Alhambra 2015, Ford Fiesta 2017 and Kia Sorento 2021, all were perfect. (sound quality was even awesome on the Kia Sorento car system).
BT music streaming also works great on those 3 systems, as well as on home cinema Sony BDV-N9100W.
Only Boom2 speaker does not play sound...

OTA-22 did not break anything. No need to worry at all.

@stanwood Please re read second post second paragraph. OTA 22 has given me three bugs. Is anyone else seeing the same issues on VPX?

                    Can't turn BT off.

If you turn wifi off the button to turn it back on dissapears (cured by power off, turn back on).

Airplane mode only turns cellular off/on, no effect on wifi or BT.

@domubpkm Thanks. I hope you don't mind but I added your suggestion for stop/start of the BT daemon as a way round this - it saves battery if you don't need BT.

@Ian Yes, the same issues and more on VPX:
BT couldn't turn off. After commands, as suggested at:
                            https://github.com/HelloVolla/ubuntu-touch-beta-tests/issues/119
                            sudo service bluetooth stop
BT stopped. But I can't get it back with
sudo service bluetooth start followed by "power down the phone and turn it back on again."
WiFI off switch disappear. Temporary workaround I found is to use Hotspot - it automatically switches on the WiFi, and the switch is once again visible.
No longer access to the phone from the linux box: "Unable to open MTP device: xxx, yyy, but adb devices -l shows:
                            device usb:5-2 product:lineage_yggdrasilx model:Volla_Phone_X device:yggdrasilx transport_id:4
Tried to switch to rc channel, every time download failed.
So, I ended with the 1/4 brick device. Still can call or receive phone call, but no BT for keyboard / mouse, WiFi works or not, Flight Mode deactivates sim cards only - I have to switch device off, instead of reading book during boring flights.

@detrminant It has to be a proper power down and restart. Quite often the first 'power down' just restarts lomiri. If this happens try another shutdown which should work. Then long press power on to get the Volla splash screen to restart and wifi should be back..... same for BT (after starting the service).
