Volla phone touch screen freeze.
-
@wgarcia Thanks for your description. Indeed, I also noticed that - in situations where the touch screen freezes - sometimes random apps open or even some strange text appears where I was about to type something at the moment the touch screen freezes.
BTW, I don't have Waydroid installed. This cannot be a reason.
I have not opened a bug report. Will you open one?
-
@gt I confirm I have the same bug on my volla. But I can't find a reliable way to reproduce it. Some times it's one time by day, some time 3 times in minute. I was suspecting video in browser, but I can reproduce in other situation... And sometimes I can watch lot of video in brother without bug...
Someone as a way to reproduce it every time?
-
@manland My wife encounter the same issue on her Volla Phone OTA-22, especially those last 3 weeks (for unknown reasons).
Some days 2 or 3 time/day (reboot required), and then nothing during a few days...
So not so serious... But it seems those issues could have been fixed in future OTA-23(?) -
-
There's nothing to lose by going to the RC channel and seeing what's going on. And that's the goal. Memory leaks have been fixed on the latest RC.
-
Om RC channel now. So far my screen didn't act up. Everything feels a bit smoother too.
-
@quget my screen acted up today. It did random inputs several times without me touching the screen.
Well no freezes yet.
-
I've been on the RC channel for a while now.
The issue of screen becoming no reactive has not disappeared, but it looks that it does not happen as often as before. For the first hour or so after upgrading to RC, it worked perfectly. Then it started freezing again.
The other issue, several random apps opening without a touch, is also here.
Something I've also noticed anecdotally is that when the battery is low the issue of non reactive screen is worse, but I do not have any evidence on this.
By the way, it seems this issue is device specific, may be some mod could move this thread to the Volla Phone subforum.
-
I've opened a new issue:
https://github.com/ubports/ubuntu-touch/issues/1998
Please feel free to comment there if you are affected.
-
@wgarcia Did you just previously use hotspot or vpn when this bug happened?

No sooner read than done

@wgarcia If you think the issue is device specific, you can open an issue here :

@domubpkm No, no hotspot.

same things happened some time on Pixel 3a XL

After posting about this in the Volla Phone with Ubuntu Touch Telegram group, somebody informed that this is also happening with Volla OS, not only with Ubuntu Touch, and that it is recommended that we get in touch with Customer Support.
Somebody else pointed out that it may be due to a dirty screen, and that after cleaning it, it goes away for him. So worth trying that too. I have a screen protector and I think this is not compatible with the random opening of apps, but let's try it also.
-
@wgarcia I have a screen protector too... And the original cover case, it can "touch" the screen I think at the screen border... Maybe I should remove all of them, clean phone and try for some days...
-
Personally, I don't use a screen protector with my Volla (just the flexible plastic shell of the smartphone) and I'm quite a fan of clean screens and anti-fingerprint cleaning spray. Generally speaking, I have much fewer problems than those described. And the fairly rare for me random input with no touch problems (sometimes when writting SMS or with the unlock code of the phone) don't come from a dirty screen in my opinion.
-
@wgarcia I have no screen protector and cleaned my screen seberal times with no succes
I guess I try to contact Volla Support -
@quget
I got the same problem. The Volla support suggested to try to clean the display, and eventually to send it back.
I cleaned it but no result. I suspect is a display problem.
