Hotspot issues, it works but doesn't stop
-
Hi All
I have an issue with the hotspot on my FP3: the hotspot itself works without any issues, but I can't stop it most of the time. If I try to stop it either through the top bar shortcut or through the settings -> hotspot menu it will show as disabled in the menu, but my laptop is still able to connect. The phone also won't connect to any wifi network in this state.
There is usually no hotspot indicator in the top bar unless the interface crashed at some point, then it will show up. At this point there will be a chance that the hotspot gets disabled if it turn it off.
Is there anything to be done about this?
thanks

I'm afraid you can do nothing else than wait for a fix.
Hotspot is a long topic of misbehaviors on lot of devices though.

I've experience a similar issue in one of my UT devices. If I remember correctly, I try to toggle flight mode to reenable wifi.

@gandalf Yes, that is a bad one. You can restart the "interface" (Unity8) manually using the Ut Tweak Tool app, there go to menu->System->Services and restart Unity8.

Hi @gandalf,
With my Sony Xperia X, I got into the habit of turning everything off every time.
The switches: cellular data; hotspot; wireless network.
After that, I can freely choose what to turn on again.
However, the respective switches always show the correct state (on/off = green/grey).Greetings

solves most problems
I don't know if restarting lomiri solves most problems on Fairephone 3 or other smartphones, but restarting Lomiri is not the same as restarting or rebooting a smartphone : i can say it it does not solve all the problems : for example, in the case of the microphone that deactivates after a call has been made, for the recorder or the camera, only a reboot or restarting the smartphone reactivates the microphone. I tested this some time ago on my Volla.

I nearly forgot that I posted this already as I didn't use the hotspot recently... @Luksus @kugiigi Thanks for both hints to restart Unity through the UTT and flight mode. It looks like my observation about the restart of Unity was a bit backwards. Restarting Unity enables the hotspot indicator, but turns off the hotspot immediately oO In any case I can now disable the hotspot and get the wifi back.
@domubpkm can confirm the micro shenanigans. After a successful call the mic won't work in waydroid/whatsapp until I reboot. luckily I don't do that many calls either way
For the camera disabling and enabling the permission worked for me so far in all instances of that happening.
