      Hello everyone,

If I understand correctly, there is a working Dekko2 mail client for UT 20.04 Focal Fossa in OpenStore.
I would like to make the move to Focal, but preferably keep / migrate the mail messages (which I just download to my device via POP3 and delete from server). Is there a way to do this? I'm sure it's just copying some hidden files to a certain destination.

@Alter I don't think there is the need to migrate anything manually from the xenial version of Dekko to the focal version.

@arubislander : so it's possible to install 20.04 Focal Fossa via the installer without wipe option and keep all data (like emails downloaded to the device via POP3 not IMAP) intact? I believe I read somewhere that a fresh install (with wipe) was recommended?

I also have some other things I like to keep:
Axolotl config and messages, Teleports, photos in Gallery app, contacts, Morph bookmarks, notes from Notes app, files.
Can I keep them and just install Focal without wipe?

@Alter No, it's NOT required to wipe your data or do a factory reset when upgrading to focal. But since it is a big upgrade, it would be ideal to do so to avoid getting strange, weird and random issues. This is true to all upgrades even on desktops like for example when upgrading Ubuntu from LTS to LTS release. And as always, it's also a good practice to create backup for all your important data.

@kugiigi : thanks for explaining! I understand now, and will probably do an upgrade without wipe first.
Of course, I will back-up my data first.

@Alter I would not recommend you update to Focal just yet, in that case. Better to wait until OTA-2.

@arubislander I was planing on upgrading my Volla Phone X to 20.04 dev channel this week (backup followed by clean instal with wipe to OTA-1 and then switch channel to dev). I was hoping to be able to help with the testing of cell broadcast, we have a test run in the UK next sunday at 3 in the afternoon.

After the test I might switch back to stable as I need a phone that worksπŸ™‚

@Ian Sounds like a sound plan. You are upgrading for a concrete reason. The OP mentioned no such reason, so maybe was upgrading because it was available.

@arubislander : Thanks for your advice! However, I did upgrade to 20.04 now with a clean install (wipe). Hence, this late reply. I just couldn't wait to try πŸ™‚
I still have to adjust some things (one of them is Dekko backup and config looks as if restored, it won't send/receive) but I hope and think I will be able to sort it out and it will be workable for me. [edit: Dekko is working after fresh installation and config of the app. I haven't put back config and mails.]
