@gdegrez If it's not why are you not admin for your personal gmail account?

Here is how to do it on a Yahoo account.

If you have two step verification on your account, you may need to have a PC/phone/tablet to say "Yes, it's me".

It seems personal accounts don't have administrator privileges, that's what I get when I open the link
            https://support.google.com/a/answer/6260879?hl=en
Sign in to your Google Admin console.
Sign in using an administrator account, not your current account xxxxx@gmail.com

Here is how to do it on a Yahoo account.

I found that indeed, but the service is not working at the moment, it replies
Sorry, this feature is not available right now!
            😞

Conclusion: Dekko2 is totally unusable as far as I am concerned.

@gdegrez Just tested Dekko2 with gmail on my Focal OP5T running OTA-2, worked like a charm with the app password, my account is my own personal one.

Aren't you behind a paywall? I haven't used Yahoo for quite a while now since MM took over.

It's usable for personal accounts, for me, at least with outlook.com ones. For Exchange server ones, they won't work because they need OAuth2, which is so-so. I am not a fan of that, especially if the 2FA is through a mobile phone.

@MrT10001 @Lakotaubp @gdegrez Hey mates, I found an app on the Open Store which can handle M$ Exchange servers.

                            Here it is: https://open-store.io/app/outlook-office365.ste-kal.

It's a good wrapper and handles OAuth2 very well. It allows access probably just to one account but that's fine. It's a start. There is that "Sign in with a different account option" but I haven't tried that yet.

I have marked this as "Solved" even though it's not through Dekko 2 as the new app is actually a very usable option.

                                Thanks. That works fine indeed.

I can also have access to my gmail account with the Gmail web app.
The pity is to have to use 2 apps (and the web interface for Yahoo mail) to check mail.
The nice thing with a good email client is to have a single interface for all mail accounts.
If Dekko2 only worked with gmail and yahoo, I would be happy. But it's not so.

It could be so, if those who needed the functionality most would find some why of contributing to get that functionality working.

I appreciate that the Dekko codebase is not the easiest to dive into and contribute to. But it is Open Source. And the way Open Source works best (in fact the only way it can work at all) is if those most affected by an issue or shortcoming take actual and concrete steps in contributing to get the issue that affects them fixed.

Sure, it would probably not be easy, else it would have most likely already been fixed. But as long as those mail services have instructions for setting up SMTP and POP3 or IMAP, it should be possible to have Dekko communicate with them. If not with the current code base, then with added code that can be contributed by anyone willing to put in the work.

I apologize if this comes over as an unnecessarily harsh response to an innocent fact stated in the irrealis gramatical mood. But I hear so much of that lately and it is rubbing me the wrong way, because with such an attitude, why bother with open source at all.

When there's an issue with a closed source app the user has three options:

                                  1. live with it
                                  2. bring it to the attention of the publisher and wait / hope for a fix
                                  3. use something else

With Open Source there is a fourth possibility:
                                  4. contribute (money, time, code) towards fixing the issue.

If that fourth option is not exercised, then what is the added benefit to using open source?

Again, I understand that diving into the code and fixing an issue / adding a feature might not be within reach of everyone. But actively getting in contact with the developers and working with them towards a solution, whatever form that takes, surely is the minimum of what could be expected of a user of Open Source?

Remember: there are no customers in Open Source.

Sure, but it requires that they respond...

I strongly support open source, I have been using all kinds of open source software for a number of years. And I have been spending time with the respective user communities yo help new users of those software, but I don't have the computer science skills to act as a developer.

As far as UB Touch is concerned, I went on trying it many years ago on a BQ Aquaris tablet because I always felt that Android and iOS were not satisfactory OS for tablets, and I looked forward to the convergence aimed at by UB Touch : " Ubuntu Touch is designed primarily for mobile devices. However, imagine connecting your mobile device to a monitor, mouse and keyboard and having it instantly transformed into a desktop experience. This is the goal of Convergence, an experimental feature for a unified experience on all devices. "

So far, I have not been successful with the installation of desktop software. I understand that Convergence is an experimental feature and developers had/have other priorities.
So, I just check once in a while the project progress. I was very excited about the launching of Focal but unfortunately I can't install it on my tablet. Never mind, again I understand that there are other priorities in terms of devices to support.

Thanks and congratulations to the developers participating in this project.

This is a sentence in the structure of "if <something would be the case> then <some desired outcome>". Thereby expressing a longing, wish or desire for something that is not, at present, reality.
