    • RE: Leaving Ubuntu Touch

I understand as I recently bought a de-Googled Linage OS One+ 6. I'll still keep my Nexus 5 and I too am hopeful that one day I can have a full fledged Linux phone such as a Pine Phone for a daily driver. I'll keep using Ubuntu on both my laptops. 🙂

    • RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?

My N5 (with T-Mobile) is in a dead zone, so I have to drive about a mile before it will connect with the T-Mobile tower. For funzie's today I went to the AT& T store to see if maybe the N5 would work. The employee there took the sim card out of his phone and put it in mine. It connected and with data use to for about a minute or so then disconnected. He took the card out and put it back in his phone and um. AT&T blocked his number. Oops, he had to make a call on another phone to get them to unblock it and he told them what he did. Sooooo, apparently AT&T has the capability to accept these phones but they choose not to. Anyway, I'm hoping T-Mobile will put a tower in my area because $15.00 a month a great price. Even if AT&T would have worked they wanted $35.00 a month for their most basic plan.

I've included a link to that phone for anyone interested. I too would like to see if a port could be done. I can be pretty rough on phones and this would really help.

@thousandtopics I hear you as I really don't trust anything Apple or Google, but if I can't do the Ubuntu Touch route, then a de-googled phone is better than having it operate with Android 11.

@applee When I tried to use UBPorts to flash it with Ubuntu Touch it notified me that I had a newer version of Android and I needed to downgrade to version 9.

    • Flashing a One+ 6T with Android 11

I recently purchased a used One+ 6T McClaren Edition that is unlocked and bought directly from One +, but has the latest Android 11 OS. I want to flash it with Ubuntu Touch but I read where I have to go back to Android 9 first. I have to admit that I'm concerned that I may brick this phone as I'm not the techiest person out there. My question is, will UBPorts have an update anytime soon so that I can flash the phone and not have to flash Android 9 first? Are there any folks who do these types of thing for pay?

The other thing I'm considering if I cant do that is to send it to Rob Braxman and have him deGoogle it.

    • RE: Pinephone Rant

I see the latest version available to buy is the Pine Phone Beta. Does this mean they are getting closer to a daily driver release? Also, is there any difference between that model and my UBPorts or Mobian edition?
