RE: Welcome to the UBports community! Introduce yourself here!
Hi, I'm Mark. I'm an I.T Manager and Web Designer who caught the Ubuntu bug 3 years ago and has since engrossed myself into learning Ubuntu Linux.
I've previously owned a BQ E4.5, BQ M10 FHD, Meizu MX4 and I currently own a BQ E5 and have recently flashed a Nexus 5 with UBports.
I'm passionate about the ease of use in technology so would definitely be interested in being a UX tester.
I'm also about to take the plunge and train for the Linux Foundation Sys Admin certificate.
Thank you to UBports for keeping the dream alive!

RE: Xiaomi Redmi 7 review and beginner questions?
@tchan Thanks for that.
I finally managed to get it installed but only after flashing v9 of the GSI image, for some reason I get an error message when flashing v10.
The Suru Dark theme is looking very nice on this handset and I've been impressed with the performance, even on the 2 GB RAM handset I'm running on.
I'm noticing that a few of the Nextcloud apps don't want to load (Newsie, uMarks & Jotit Notes) as well as several webapps such as the newer version of Tweetdeck. Of course being webapps I can run them in the browser and they run fine there.
I can confirm that the bugs listed on the Github page are present i.e graphic glitches & WiFi randomly disconnecting but these aren't much of a distraction.
Bluetooth is working as well as can be expected, I was able to connect to a Raspberry Pi running Balena-Sound. The camera app can be a bit glitchy and freezes at times.
I'm now left wondering whether getting v10 of GSI installed would improve some of these app loading issues?

RE: most wanted core apps to run ubuntu as daily phone OS
Having Nextcloud/Owncloud account integeration is paramount for myself to use UBports as a daily driver.
- Phone
- SMS Messaging
- Calendar (NEXTCLOUD SYNC)
- Contacts (NEXTCLOUD SYNC)
- Tasks (NEXTCLOUD SYNC)
- Mail client (Hopefully Dekko, think it's a great app)
- Web browser
- Telegram (I've gradually started to convert my friends from WhatsApp)
- Camera
- Music App (I think the Ubuntu Touch app is one of the best looking music apps out there)
Clock - Gallery

RE: "The" Bluetooth Thread
I have a 2012 Ford Focus (SYNC) and a OnePlus One. The BT connection is OK once connected, however quite frequently when I have turned the ignition on, it may appear that they have automatically paired but when I play from Podbird or from the Music app, nothing happens.
I then have to (from the car console) disconnect the phone, begin to play something on the phone and then reconnect it. Once I've done this there's no further issue.
Unfortunately so far, calls don't seem to be working with either Mic or Speakers.

RE: Xiaomi Redmi 7 review and beginner questions?
Hi @tchan
Can you confirm that before I follow the Github instrutions, I would need to unlock the bootloader first by using the guide set out on the LineageOS website here: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/onclite/install ??

A couple of hours after posting the above, the BT connection to the car had a complete meltdown and refused to connect even after several restarts of the phone.
However the next day, it connected OK again and I was able to listen to audio from the phone. Suddenly a call comes in and lo and behold I was able to answer it from the steering wheel control! I had the call come through to the car speakers and the microphone was working too!
This is the first time I've had a successful hands-free phone call using the OnePlus One. I'm now guessing that there are intermittent issues with the BT connection between these devices.
