Hum, and creating folders there to move the apps into somehow sounds unlikely to do what I would like... But I'll give it a try next time, you never know.

RE: Where can I find a good tutorial and platform?
I'd say this is one of the first times I've seen something posted to New Contributors that was actually suited for that category...
Lol, maybe the description of "New Contributors" should be modified?

Where can I find a good tutorial and platform?
My kid's tablet is full of games. When I try to do something on it, I have to hunt through all the icons for the utility app I want.
I want folders and the ability to drag and drop all these game icons into a folder called "Games". Similar to regular Ubuntu, where the desktop functions as a kind of file manager, and like there is on Android.
Where can I find a good tutorial and platform for creating Ubuntu Touch apps?

How to edit text files?
I have 2 text editors, Notebook and Tedit. But they have no "File/Open" option allowing me to find the file I want to edit. I can find it in File Manager, but it doesn't offer the option to open the text file with either Notebook or Tedit. I couldn't find "file associations". I viewed my file in the terminal with nano but the displayed keyboard doesn't have the "control + letter" option needed to save any modification.
I read advice saying to copy the file to a pc for modifications and then copying it back on the tablet. I guess I could do that but it's not a very satisfying method.
I mean files in text format, not necessarily .txt files. The one I was aiming for is a .conf

RE: Where is the Desktop?
Maybe I should try, then :). Did a bit of coding way back, mostly javascript, perl and a bit of C++. How hard can it be?

RE: How to stop apps from asking for my password?
Got it, thank you. For File Manager, it's a little symbol, 2 horizontal lines, the top one has a circle on the left, the other one has a circle on the right.

RE: Can't open PDF files
It functions! I was opening the apps the wrong way round. Thank you.

RE: How to stop apps from asking for my password?
Can't find it... In system settings I have "flight mode", "rotation lock", "updates", "network", "personal", "system", "about" and "reset".

RE: Where is the Desktop?
I'm looking for a way to group icons into folders. I've got games, utilities, etc. all mixed up.
Even if there is no folder called "Desktop", there's got to be a list somewhere of icons to display, along with links to their logo, I hope you see what I mean. A list of installed apps?

RE: Can't open PDF files
Thank you for the suggestion, but it's doing the same. Telling me "Transfer in progress" with a cute little blue spinning circle...

How to stop apps from asking for my password?
File Manager asks for my password. The terminal also. Not only if I use "sudo", but whenever I open it, it asks for my password.
Etc.
When using this volla tablet, I have to type this password over and over again.

Where is the Desktop?
In /home/name I have no "Desktop". I have "Documents", "Downloads", "Music", "Pictures" and "Video".
I would like to sort icons on my Desktop. Either by using a new app to create desktop folders or by typing "mkdir". There are too many icons on this desktop.

Can't open PDF files
Hi,
I installed PDF JS and Chromium PDF, but there are problems.
- When I do "open", I see "File Manager", "Morpĥ Browser", etc. I choose "File Manager" and I have to type the password. I tried to do "chmod 755 *" in the terminal (on /home/name) but File Manager still asks for my password.
- Then I choose my pdf and it displays "Transfer in progress" and nothing else, it stays in progress forever.
Both pdf apps do that.
To be able to show my ticket on the train, I had to view it online and take a screeshot.

Could deleted posts please disappear?
Here and there, I see "This post has been deleted". Why? So we can see the moderators are doing their job? We can see that by reading the forum... I think leaving these skeletons makes the forums look a bit untidy. Just my own opinion

RE: How difficult is it compared to installation on a PC?
I struggled a bit (see my other post here) and rooted the tablet, but now it functions. It was well worth it. What a pleasure to go to the app store and everything is free! My kid got all the games and she loves the planetarium.

RE: Waiting for device - Asserting unlocked bootloader variable
SOLVED!
Typing in that order 3 lines of code :
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flashing unlockFinally did the trick!
UBP took over and installed Ubuntu Touch!

RE: Waiting for device - Asserting unlocked bootloader variable
I tried again, just to make sure, with the "FASTBOOT mode" on before even starting UBP.
It still gets stuck saying "Waiting for device - Asserting unlocked bootloader variable" while the tablet says "=> FASTBOOT mode..."
