  • How to access samba shares (files & folders) on server?

Hi - Just installed UbuntuTouch on a Nexus 5 yesterday. Works great ... except I can't see how to access my server. I read a very old post on The Internet about a 'Go To' option under Network where you could type in the IP address. It appears it's not there anymore.

I'd like to install UbuntuTouch on my Nexus 9 tablet and I'd be set. All I use it for is to read books, watch movies (from the server), browse around the web and read/send email. Not being able to send/receive files/folders from the server is a real drag.

    Any help? Thanks.

  • RE: How to access samba shares (files & folders) on server?

@emphrath That Worked Great. Problem solved for file/folder transfers back and forth. But ... I couldn't play any of the videos on the server regardless of their formats (mpg, mts, avi, mp4) using Media Player, Video Player, or UTmedia. Though some of the videos will play if I transfer them to the phone.

On the Nexus 5 that's no big deal, watching a movie on a 4.9" screen is not um ... optimal. But I won't give my Nexus 7 or 9 the Ubuntu Touch treatment if they can't play movies from the server. Where do you suppose the problem lies?
    Thanks ... Bob,
