Again thanks to all!

@Coluix It sounds to me as if you are almost there! A new cable may help. It does take longer than you might expect for the installation to complete.
You are not alone. It has taken me some frustrating time to migrate from one Nexus 5 on Ubports to a "new" one bu,t with help from this forum, I am at last there ...
Good luck!
@cj_c I have a work around.
If on filling in the account details and pressing <next> Dekko returns to the same screen do not back out as this deletes the new account information entered. Instead restart the phone.
If you entered the information correctly then your mail will be there when go back into Dekko. If the account details were not correct, you have the opportunity to edit the account.
Similarly if the validation hangs, simply restart the phone.
The lack of feedback from Dekko when configuring an account has already been raised as an issue.
I have configured Dekko 2 successfully in the past. Now on attempting to configure an Outlook account I cannot get past the Server Configuration screen. If I back out, the account is not set up. Checking my Microsoft activity shows that they were happy with the IMAP and SMTP requests. I suspect that I have the same problem with Gmail. Is there a work around?
Thanks
In the UK there are still unused Nexus 5 phones available for about £100.
I use a Nexus 5 on ubports as my "daily driver", but it has a broken case, no gps, screen marks and other oddities.New old stock N5 s are still available in the UK, on ebay for <£100 so I have bought a spare.
Clearly Fairphone is available but Pinephone looks good to me. If Pinephone were to be as successful as the Raspberry Pi then this community would be transformed in size.
@lakotaubp I have been on UBports for over a year now, but this is the first time I have posted. I am gladdened by the prompt and helpful replies.

@dobey Many Thanks! Fastboot version 1:7.0.0+r33-2 for linux does not list the command oem unlock but it works... LOCK STATE is now red and unlocked.
Kind Regards
Chris C
I have done that and allowed USB debugging but I Have no OEM unlock menu item, as has been reported for a number of devices with Android 6.
My old Nexus 5 is battered and not altogether reliable. New old stock is still available in the UK so I bought one. New phone is on Android 6.0.1 with no OEM unlock menu. Updating does not fix this.
Installed 15 second ADB on Windows as Administrator but it does not work. It looks as if there are no drivers installed. I am not a Windows user so have no idea as to how to proceed with this.
I have fastboot on Linux. fastboot device -l shows the phone connected. fastboot flashing unlock gives FAILED (remote: unknown command).
What should I try next?
Many Thanks
