      @cj_c And UBports now installed. Next task is to sync data with the old phone.

      Again thanks to all!

    • RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 112 Is This Saturday 20th Nov At 19:00 UTC

      The new web site is great! However, I do not feel we are being honest with users about devices.

      Third on the supported list is "Nexus 5: the convergent phone", however this should surely now be marked as approaching end of life?

      Fifth on the supported list is "PinePhone: power to the community", which may be fine for those involved in development, but is not now a usable phone, and may never be so...

      I am not sure how to get to other devices at the time of writing, however I do think it is time that more proiminence is given to the excellent community ports which do work and are nearly complete, like the Sony Xperia X and Google Pixel 3a (thanks to fredldotme!).

      Users are surely going to get a much better experience from these than from some of the "supported" devices.

      Keep up the good work!

      I have recently experienced poor battery life on an intermittent basis, which I have traced to particular web pages. In particular, Quordle seems to use battery sometimes. Closing tabs seems to be a cure. It may be worth a try.

    • The Register gives free publicity for Ubuntu Touch!

      The headline for an article in The Register on Snaps was kindly illustrated by an image of Ubuntu Touch core devices...

      It is difficult to give a link because the image does not appear on the article itself, but at the time of writing the article headline (so image) is still on The Register home page.

    • RE: OpenStore Stats for 2021

      @bhdouglass That is great!

      I guess I had only reported the armhf figures in the past, obtained on my Nexus 5. It is good to see the activity on more recent devices.

    • RE: OpenStore Stats for 2021

      There are some high numbers here which is reassuring indicator of the health of the UBports community. A better indication of the number of devices in use and up to date would come from the count of downloads of the latest version of popular apps.

    • RE: UBports and UT stats

      Great work!

      Can I add that the number of downloads of the latest version of popular non-core OpenStore apps surely gives some sort of lower bound to the number of devices being kept up to date. The top three scores of apps that I have installed are at the time of writing as follows:

      UTTweakTool: 11,724
      Tagger: 8961
      Dekko2: 8262

      Even if some of the UTTweakTool downloads are from people experimenting with UBports, we must be approaching 10,000 up to date devices!

      We are of course somewhat short of the claim of 3,000,000,000 (3 billion) claimed for Android, which shows the potential for future growth...

      Keep up the Good work!

      @Coluix It sounds to me as if you are almost there! A new cable may help. It does take longer than you might expect for the installation to complete.

      You are not alone. It has taken me some frustrating time to migrate from one Nexus 5 on Ubports to a "new" one bu,t with help from this forum, I am at last there ...

      Good luck!

    • RE: Unable to add email accounts in Dekko2

      @cj_c I have a work around.

      If on filling in the account details and pressing <next> Dekko returns to the same screen do not back out as this deletes the new account information entered. Instead restart the phone.

      If you entered the information correctly then your mail will be there when go back into Dekko. If the account details were not correct, you have the opportunity to edit the account.

      Similarly if the validation hangs, simply restart the phone.

      The lack of feedback from Dekko when configuring an account has already been raised as an issue.
