    • RE: Symlink from SD card to home dir without restrictions

@applee I managed to get the syncing done by placing a symlink in the Pictures folder. As stated above, placing a symlink in the root home folder didn't. At first there were some duplicates shown in the Gallery app but they were handled after a while and you could see the reshuffling going on. maybe it would be an idea to have a preference, like in SailfishOS, to automatically store pictures on the SD card if one is present?

    • RE: Symlink from SD card to home dir without restrictions

@applee I seem not to have been too clear when stating the problem. I managed to create a symlink without problem. I need that link to be open to all users and apps, especially UBsync which will be using it when syncing content.
Currently it seems like the symlink is restricted to the super user because the File Manager asks for the root password before displaying the symlink folder. The prompt is
Restricted access. Authentication is required in order to see all the content of this folder.

    • Symlink from SD card to home dir without restrictions

How do you create a symlink from the sd card to home directory without restrictions? I attempted to do this with a common symlink command ln -s /media/sdcard/[hex-hash] /home/phablet/SDcard but need to fill in the root password if I use Files to navigate directories.
The aim is to sync content with UBsync to the sd card which I'm not able to do at the moment. Syncing to the user directory works though.

@lakotaubp Thanks for the info. I've just wiped everything today and started with a new system. Tried to install Anbox but got stuck like previously.

@c4pp4 Are you saying that the documentation for installing Anbox is outdated now?

This might be a solution in regards to increasing the partition for Android.

    • Unable to install Anbox on BQ Aquaris M10 FHD

I've attempted to install Anbox following the steps at dailyuse/anbox but ran into an error 28: No space left on device:

      phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ sudo apt update
      Ign:1 http://repo.ubports.com xenial InRelease

      Hit:5 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports xenial-security InRelease
      Reading package lists... Error!

E: Write error - write (28: No space left on device)
E: IO Error saving source cache
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

I also tested the troubleshooting instructions at the end of the page with the same results. I've got 3.5G left on the device so one would think there is sufficient space.
I checked the amount of inodes which are being used with
sudo df -i / and there were 45% used.
How can I run apt update without getting the "No space left on device" error?
      Running 16.04 (OTA-13) on a BQ Aquaris M10 FHD.

    • RE: aquaris M10 Fhd SD card

I've got the same issue with the same device. I have a 128GB sdcard formatted with gParted to FAT32. It appears in the External Drives app with the Format and Safely Remove option but not recognized in the Files Manager. Previous to the latest update OTA-12, the sdcard wasn't recognized at all.

@arubislander Thanks, I know it's a problem with my device then. Might be looking at reinstalling the OS as there are a few other things which have become wonky on the system.

So is it only my machine which has this problem or is it a problem across all installations of OTA-11? Because I have had icons in the Desktop Apps scope before.

    • RE: App icons aren't displayed in Desktop Apps scope

@adeliepenguin Yes, I've done that but the Desktop Apps scope is completely empty of icons. As I mentioned though the apps can be launched via command line so there definitely are functioning desktop programmes installed.

    • App icons aren't displayed in Desktop Apps scope

I've created a new libertine container and installed some apps via the System Settings Libertine panel but no icons show up in the Desktop Apps scope, even after reboot. I can launch desktop apps via the command-line though.
