Yeah, and why does my phone say it was last updated 4/6/22? Does yours say that? That's next week.

RE: Not receiving some text messages
Also, it might have something to do with texts sent while the phone is turned off. Not sure.

RE: Not receiving some text messages
Okay. Also, this happened right after the OS update on 4/6/22, so that could be related.

RE: Not receiving some text messages
Okay. That's interesting. Thing is, it happened two times for me.... that I know of. I assume you mean this would be my provider's issue, not theirs'? thanks.

RE: Not receiving some text messages
Thanks for the response. The problem is new. I don't know what OTA 22 is. I see here that the OS was updated on 4/6/22, so the update might have broken something. I have MMS messages enabled, but these people were just sending me short texts, no images or anything. I'm not sure how to know if they were sending SMS or MMS.

Not receiving some text messages
Hello. I've been running Ubuntu Touch on my Nexus 5 with no problems for about a year. But recently, I learned that I haven't been receiving some text messages. A friend tells me he sent me a text. I didn't receive it. I text him. Then when he responds, I receive his new text along with the text he sent earlier at the same time. This happened twice with two different people. Now I'm worried I've missed a bunch of other texts that I don't know about. Any idea what's happening here or how to fix the problem? thanks!

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@dobey Okay. So I had my phone set to "2G only." After switching to "2G/3G/4G," I'm all over the internet smokin' fast. This works as well as my iPhone. I am stoked! Thanks again to everyone here. I never would have figured this out without your help because all the service providers (including T Mobile) claim they don't support these phones.

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@dobey Perhaps they set me up with the wrong plan. They do have a no data plan. I'm going back in today or tomorrow to check.

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@nigel-tufnel Okay. Thanks. I actually went to ATT before going to T Mobile. The kid there wasn't able to get my phone working, but perhaps he didn't know what he was doing. The phone connected to their network for a few seconds, but then disconnected and couldn't reconnect. As I said above, I am now connected on T Mobile... but without data. Are you able to get data through net10?

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@dobey and @Keneda and @TotalRando Went to T Mobile. They had adapters and set me up with a prepaid month on 2G for $15. Works fine, but like @Lt-Dillinger said... no data. That's fine with me too, but I'm also setting up a couple other Nexus 5's for my friends. They'd like to have a data plan, so I'll look into the Walmart situation for them. Thanks guys. That was all very helpful! Oh. What's a BYOD kit?

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@dobey Okay. I'll try that. Will report back. Thanks!

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@dobey I just entered my IMEI number at the T Mobile site. It said my phone is not supported.

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@dobey I see. So you're saying that I can't just get a new SIM from T Mobile that will work? How would I get a SIM that is active? Would it have to come from someone who is already using another phone on T Mobile?

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@dobey I actually got a SIM card of the right size from a Verizon store, but when I went home and tried to activate the phone, it wouldn't work.

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@antidroid and @dobey It seems some providers will support these phones if you've already had them on their plan for a number of years. They won't boot you off, but they won't let you bring any of these phones into a new plan.

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@dobey I have a D820, but when I checked a number of service providers' websites (including Mint) for their supported phones by entering either "Nexus 5" or my specific IMEI number, they all said the phone was not supported.

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@antidroid Thanks for the tip. Would 2G or 2.5G still work, but be slower? I'm open to getting a different phone, but a friend also ordered a couple Nexus 5s, so I want to try and get this one to work.

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
@cliffcoggin Thanks for the response. Yeah. I am in the US. It is a policy thing. These providers are refusing to support older phones, but there must be providers that still support the Nexus 5's because I know other people here are using them.
