Very help, thank you! I will need to flash the factory rom and start over since I can't get back into android since the last time i tried flashing ubuntu. any recommendations on specific usb cables that have worked for you?

@floki Firstly try a few different usb cables. they are one of the most common problems. If your using windows please use this version of adb https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979 its best with windows. thanks so much for the response. any recommendations on good cables? I have a few here that i've tried and didn't really see any better results, that being said, i probably don't have the greatest cables. i'll try that version of adb as well and try to install on windows again. will report results.

I've tried Windows, Mac and Ubuntu UBPorts installer to install the latest version of Ubuntu Touch on my Nexus 5. The UBPorts recovery will come up, but the actual OS never boots. Any ideas or anyone having this same experience? I'd really love to get ubuntu touch on my Nexus 5 and get away from Android...
