Second attempt was finally successful. Thank you guys! On a different note is there a way of running Android apps on a Nexus 4 'as is'?

Nexus 4 Anbox experiment gone wrong
Hi there, i recently got UT working beautifully on a Nexus 4 but then tried to set up Anbox as a next step. I followed all the steps in the userguide but am suddenly looking at a mobile which either only shows the bootloader screen or dimly flashes when i try to restart it. Any idea how to fix this? And to make it a bit more problematic i don't seem to be able to pick it up in Terminal anymore either...

RE: Other NEW supported phones...?
...just to be a little bit naughty i need to ask this... Nobody has tried their hands on a Blackberry Passport yet or am i wrong there?

RE: OTA-7 Wifi Issue
@lakotaubp Thank you very much. Also after a little messing around i had another look at 'System Settings' -> Reset -> Reset launcher and it somehow got me the Wifi connection and tab back on the screen fully accessible. Is there some sort of explanation for this?

RE: OTA-7 Wifi Issue
@lakotaubp The device is OPO and yes i'm just trying it now but all i seem to get is the OPO telling me 'Fetching Channels' and a 'spinning circle'? By the way am i posting all this in the right forum or would it be better in Support or OS?
Oh yes and after a lengthy wait i've got on the screen a tab saying ' Channel to get updates from' but it is just a header without content ie it's empty when i click on it

RE: OTA-7 Wifi Issue
@lakotaubp I'm afraid nothing seems to have worked. Restarting the device and Flight mode were my first 2 thoughts too but it didn't have an effect. It also seems to take ages to activate when i switch 'Cellular data' on and off. Can this be a related issue? Any other ideas??

RE: OTA-7 Wifi Issue
OTA-7 seems to have let my Wifi tab disappear. I can still see the the previous network but can't switch it on or off anymore. Has anybody else got this problem?? It's now running on 'Cellular data' only which performs very well though...

RE: Development testers for Anbox
Hiya i just wanted to leave a link here. I accidentally started another thread. If you read into this link you'll find the instructions on how i installed Anbox on an OPO. So far successful. I just need some time to 'play' with it now to see where it is at and what can be done with it: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/2202/anbox-for-opo/7

RE: Anbox for OPO?
Yes of course, which thread in particular? I'll leave a short message with a link if that's ok. And a big Thank you guys!!

RE: Anbox for OPO?
lol well i'm not necessarily faint hearted... One query though. Why does the OPO keep telling me that it can't install because there is not enough space in the /archive? Is there a workaround or am i missing something? I tried as it suggested on the link but seem to fail to find the installation on the OPO...

Anbox for OPO?
Ok i'm really confused now. I tried finding out whether Anbox can be installed on OPO but seem to read a lot about problems there. Can anyone tell me whether and how this would work? PS: I'm only a beginner. I got this phone 3 days ago, have UT installed and it is working beautifully but now I'm really struggling... Thank you for any help!

RE: Nexus install problems
Hiya same problem here. It keeps telling me to install the Universal ADB driver which i have done now 3x and it still doesn't like me
Perhaps some more details: i'm on a pretty factory standard Win 8 laptop which does detect the device but doesn't do much else afterwards. Any help much appreciated -
RE: Welcome to the UBports community! Introduce yourself here!
@wlbi Lol yes i admit it I use Whatsapp sobs uncontrollably because i have to and i'm also all to aware of certain risks involved with it...
As for you mentioning Anbox (that's something else i haven't heard before...) this may have just given me THE reason why to go out and buy a Meizu or bq and install UT. This thought is 'work in progress' i may add. Thanks for the input (or eye opener) -
RE: Welcome to the UBports community! Introduce yourself here!
Hiya
I'm Frank and i literally just stumbled across UBports and Ubuntu Touch. To my astonishment i didn't know anything about this until half an hour ago despite me having used various Linux distros (Ubuntu, MINT, Porteus...) at home and at work since ~2011. I promise i will do my own homework but need to ask some questions straightaway:
How does UT work with Whatsapp?
Is there such a thing as a beginner's device ie a device which is easy to install and would work reliably afterwards?
How long would an OS be supported?
Is it possible to install UT on Blackberry Passport for example (which i'm currently using as a backup phone?
How easy is it to sync a UT phone with a laptop/works computer (...long story...)?As i said i only just spotted this website but really like the idea...
