    • RE: Sponsoring page and missing people

Thanks again for the suggestions. Right now on the Donations page (https://ubports.com/donate) you will find advertisements for Paypal, Bitcoin, Liberapay and Patreon. I like your idea about having a widget provide the running totals of each platform, however I think it will be best (if we were to display any donation amounts at all) that we display a combined number. UBports is a world class operation and we should present only our best attributes.

UBports continues to grow and advance because of all its amazing users. Thanks again for supporting the project.

    • RE: Sponsoring page and missing people

      Hello @twinkybot

Thank you for your comment and your interest in supporting UBports. The intention of the Sponsors page (https://ubports.com/foundation/sponsors) was only to thank supporting business members as well as those Patreons that purchased the $20 or higher award to be listed on the sponsors page. The Patreons page (https://www.patreon.com/ubports) has listed the different awards, starting at $2 for a handshake, $5 for High Five, $15 for Stickers, $20 for Community Sponsor, $50 for business sponsor and $250 for Premium Sponsor.

We apologize for any confusion around the sponsors page and tried to design it in such a way as to avoid this situation. From my understanding, this award structure wasn't easily setup using the other donation categories. However, I'd be happy to look into it for you. Please pm me on Telegram (@Crash_Burn) and we can discuss possible new approaches.
      Thanks,
      Will Atwood

    • RE: Daily usable ?

I've got UBports on my N5 and I've been using it as a daily driver now for over a week. I'm very pleased with how things are going but there are clearly some issues still to be worked out. My use case is very easy... Phone, TXT, Browser, email, contacts, calendar, camera, doc viewer, calc and Hotspot. Nice to have are notes, podbird, uNav, uAdBlock and a couple games for the kids.

The only thing not working consistently is mobile data on ATT network. Once the phones manages to establish a mobile data connection it works great, but as soon as the phone stops using data, the connection silently drops. I have to toggle Cellular data on/off a bunch of times to get it working again. I'm working now to find a workaround, like setting up ping in Terminal, using uNav or getting a VPN tunnel established. Anything to keep data flowing so the connection doesn't drop. Also, wifi glitches up and doesn't activate... like turning flight mode on/off to fix cell connection.

Notifications working with Dekko2 and txt messages is great to finally have.

All in all...I real winner in my book. I couldn't be happier... just ask my family. 🙂 Now its time to move my M10 FHD over to UBports.

    • RE: T-Mobile USA and Nexus 5 connection

@Marathon2422 That did the trick. I picked up a new Straight Talk kit today and installed/activated the ATT sim and the phone is now working. It is so incredible to finally be off my old N5 with Android 4.4 and onto my new N5 with UBports!!!

I'm a $20 Patreon member going on a few months now and couldn't be more excited about the project. Thanks so much for all you do. Always fun to watch the videos staring Marius, Jan, Florian and Dalton. Marius ... just be careful driving during a conference call!

    • RE: T-Mobile USA and Nexus 5 connection

@Marathon2422 Thank you for the help! Straight Talk looks like a better deal than H20 and T-mobile. ST is $41.50 for 8GB 4g unlimited talk whereas my T-mobile plan is $32 for 5 GB 4g and 100 minutes. Its not bad but 100 minutes is hard to stay under sometimes. I'd rather not support ATT if at all possible but my desire to start using UBports is heavy. Planing on picking up a ST sim card and a one month plan just to test out the phone/service before committing to anything.

If there is anything I can do to figure out why the phone won't establish a connection to T-mobile let me know.

    • RE: T-Mobile USA and Nexus 5 connection

Just took a drive and out of T-mobile area and sure enough it immediately connected to ATT. So exciting to see a connection! Placed a few phone calls and could receive txt messages as well... very awesome. However as soon as I drove back into T-mobile coverage, it dropped connection and went back into searching. (T-Mobile and ATT have a deal of some sort)

You suck T-Mobile! I'm thinking about switching to ATT. Tech support was no help either as a pre-paid customer. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions with an UBPorts N5 in usa? Is it working and if so, how?

I've spent the last year waiting for this conversation to come up in the forums or the youtube chat but nothing yet, makes me wonder if no one is having a problem or there are no UBPorts phones in the US.

    • T-Mobile USA and Nexus 5 connection

How can I trouble shoot my connection with T-mobile? My N5 was able to establish a connection after I left the sim card in and drove around and has connected to both T-Mobile and ATT. (If T-Mob is not available, it will roam using ATT) Installing the sim card now, the phone picks up ATT, T-mobile and Verizon but only reports a denied connection.

Network Manager log files aren't providing a lot of information. My old N5 with Cyanogenmod just died today and now I'm really trying to make the switch to UBports but this is really holding me up and I'd really like to avoid buying a burner phone. I have an awesome UBports N5 that I'd love to start using full time. Reading everyones comments over the years now, it seems the only UT phones in the US have this problem. Has this been confirmed?

    • RE: Failed to install Ubuntu Touch on Nexus 5

Just had the same issue myself. Ordered a second N5 to play around with UT and am using it now. Its the weirdest thing really, ive flashed it twice now, through stable version had lots of problems and now I'm on 220 which is better...but the install process hangs at the same point.

My solution, plug and unplug the phone from the desktop computer. I'm not sure how to explain in more detail, also, I rebooted the computer (tmpfs was full) and then plug and unplug the phone and/or manually switch between recovery and fastboot. I thought it was just me since I'm running Arch Linux and got ununtu-device-flash from AUR.

Pretty fustrating, but hang in there and once it goes your in business. And switch to devel_rc-proposed.
