I've included a link to that phone for anyone interested. I too would like to see if a port could be done. I can be pretty rough on phones and this would really help.

RE: Leaving Ubuntu Touch
I understand as I recently bought a de-Googled Linage OS One+ 6. I'll still keep my Nexus 5 and I too am hopeful that one day I can have a full fledged Linux phone such as a Pine Phone for a daily driver. I'll keep using Ubuntu on both my laptops.

RE: New website ubports.com
Do you ship to the USA, and if I buy a t-shirt, will the price be converted?

RE: Flashing a One+ 6T with Android 11
@thousandtopics I hear you as I really don't trust anything Apple or Google, but if I can't do the Ubuntu Touch route, then a de-googled phone is better than having it operate with Android 11.

RE: Flashing a One+ 6T with Android 11
@applee When I tried to use UBPorts to flash it with Ubuntu Touch it notified me that I had a newer version of Android and I needed to downgrade to version 9.

Flashing a One+ 6T with Android 11
I recently purchased a used One+ 6T McClaren Edition that is unlocked and bought directly from One +, but has the latest Android 11 OS. I want to flash it with Ubuntu Touch but I read where I have to go back to Android 9 first. I have to admit that I'm concerned that I may brick this phone as I'm not the techiest person out there. My question is, will UBPorts have an update anytime soon so that I can flash the phone and not have to flash Android 9 first? Are there any folks who do these types of thing for pay?
The other thing I'm considering if I cant do that is to send it to Rob Braxman and have him deGoogle it.

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
My N5 (with T-Mobile) is in a dead zone, so I have to drive about a mile before it will connect with the T-Mobile tower. For funzie's today I went to the AT& T store to see if maybe the N5 would work. The employee there took the sim card out of his phone and put it in mine. It connected and with data use to for about a minute or so then disconnected. He took the card out and put it back in his phone and um. AT&T blocked his number. Oops, he had to make a call on another phone to get them to unblock it and he told them what he did. Sooooo, apparently AT&T has the capability to accept these phones but they choose not to. Anyway, I'm hoping T-Mobile will put a tower in my area because $15.00 a month a great price. Even if AT&T would have worked they wanted $35.00 a month for their most basic plan.

RE: 3g gone Nexus 5
I'm using T-Mobile with my Nexus 5. Phone & text only, data works just on WiFi.

RE: Wish list : which apps do you need?
A weather app like the iOS app, Radar Scope.

RE: Pinephone Rant
I see the latest version available to buy is the Pine Phone Beta. Does this mean they are getting closer to a daily driver release? Also, is there any difference between that model and my UBPorts or Mobian edition?

RE: Flashing to UBports on PP64 Convergence
Ok, I've got email(s) to the Pine Phone folks and they are looking into some options too. I'm going to hold off a bit to see what they say. I can't believe that within Mobian you cannot uncrypt your files, or do a hard reset that take Mobian back to square one.

RE: Flashing to UBports on PP64 Convergence
@kugiigi Do put this command into the terminal on the phone after boot into UBPorts on the phone?
-
RE: Flashing to UBports on PP64 Convergence
Yes, I get that on my phone, then I use etcher to upload the UBPorts to it. All goes well till the very end, where it uploads and then verifies. Then I get the error message that the eMMC didn't accept the flash. I sent they Pine folks a ticket for help and I'm waiting to hear back from them. I think and I may be wrong, is the Mobian fies on the phone are encrypted, thus locked down and the flash won't take until they are unencrypted.

RE: Flashing to UBports on PP64 Convergence
@mark1250 That's what I did before, but before the flashing would begin Mobian asked for me to put in my pass code, which I also did. After it was flashed I received and error message which almost bricked my phone. what I need is a way to get ride of the passcode and also the file encryption I did when I first set up the phone. I'm still on the hunt to do a complete reset as I was going to sell the phone but leave Mobian installed. I think if I could get the hard reset done, then the flash would work.

RE: Flashing to UBports on PP64 Convergence
@mark1250 So I understand, have UBPorts on the microSD, boot the phone, then go to the terminal and use that command?

RE: Flashing to UBports on PP64 Convergence
@keneda I have a post there too and I'm waiting for a reply. I thought maybe someone here might have an idea as this board is a bit more active. I do think that is the key, either decrypt them OR do a hard reset, which I haven't found anything out yet on how to do that.

Flashing to UBports on PP64 Convergence
I'm trying to flash UBPorts to my Mobian installed Pine Phone 64 Soooo, I used Jump Drive and flash the eMMC directly with UBPorts on my Pine Phone 64. Oh boy, what a fiasco. The issue is, when I set up Mobian I encrypted the files and also created a log in password. When I went to flash to Ubuntu, the Pine Phone wanted the password first. No problem, I entered it. The it flashed the eMMC but I received an error message that the flash was corrupted. After about an hour of reading and trying different options I was finally able to boot the phone back into the original Mobian it came with. Is it possible the encryption of the files when I set this up cause this error? If so, how do you unencrypt them? Is it possible that me setting up a an initial login password did this, or maybe both? If so how can I wipe out the log in password. The bottom line for me is, I'm going to go with Ubuntu Touch on this phone, like my other Pine 64 with 2 gig and 16 gig of storage. My goal, once the Pine 64 is ready for prime time running Ubuntu is to give the 2 gig to my wife and I'll take the 3 gig Convergence version. Any help in trying to get this flashed to UBPorts would be appreciated

RE: Cell Service Providers for Nexus 5?
I'm using my Nexus 5 with T-Mobile for a whopping $15.00 a month, BUT no data which is fine with me. If I want any data I find WiFi and I'm good to go.

RE: Installing Ubuntu Touch On A ONN Tablet
@ryu said in Installing Ubuntu Touch On A ONN Tablet:
I am hoping to install Ubuntu Touch on my onn tablet, however it is not on the supported devices list, I was curious if it was possible to install Ubuntu Touch regardless of support status and if so what are some of the risks that should be considered. If this is impossible then I was wondering if it would be possible for me to port Ubuntu Touch on my device, I was considering this as I enjoy tinkering with my devices however I posses rudimentary programming skills in Lua and C++ and am unsure if it would be possible for me to accomplish such a task, I was also curious if Ubuntu Touch was a good choice for a Linux mobile OS as I was also considering Plasma Mobile among others. Thank you for any help you can provide, thanks for reading
I'd like to take it a step further. Are their any pad devices that you can install Ubuntu Touch on? I'm in the process of de-Appling my house and I want to get rid of my iPad Air.
