@TheBird , yes. I noticed same - I though however to look for information if anyone knows how to fix it without workaround like that.
I will live with that for now - thank you a lot.

RE: Waydroid helper hiding apps
@lduboeuf , thank you. Unfortunately for me it appears after phone and/or waydroid reboot. I think I even uninstalled waydroid via helper (due to other problems) and it did remain.

Waydroid helper hiding apps
I noticed something that I think is a bug of Waydroid Helper (Ubports 20.04) which I did not see in past (16.04)
When I go to section about hide/show apps, I can not hide any app. Each time I swap right and icon of trash appears, when I go to next app on list - previous one reset to default state.
Pressing 'trash' icon does do same (nothing) -
RE: WayDroid unstable on 20.04
I can reprodue it now but printing of 'waydroid log' does not tell much (it actually says that 'stopped' while I am interacting with any app (lik DuckDuckGo) , no exception is printed.

WayDroid unstable on 20.04
Hi all,
I recently installed UbTouch 20.04 on 2 phones (OnePlus 5, Pixel 3A) and I noticed that Waydroid is not stable.
I try t odescribe observations but not sure if this is 100% accurate.
I use apps and I notice at some point an app does not start anymore (appears in launcher but not on screen).
When I took 3rd phone (Xiaomi A2) and updated 16.04 to 20.04 (also to stable one) I noticed similar regression.
I think, Wayroid Stop helps but I am not super sure yet as on Xiaomi Waydroid helper started hanging each time when I want to run it (to add Stop on screen) -
RE: Battery Life Time On Nexus 5
@taiga-woods (all), If you look for great battery life experience, I can tell that I also have UT on Xiaomi MI A2. I do not use it much apart of reading news each evening but device (connected to wifi all the time) stays alive for 100 hours and more. Just FYI
-
RE: Battery Life Time On Nexus 5
@martinm , I confirm what others said. I recently bought Nexus 5 in order to install UT and I tested battery for a week to know condition, it was able to run (idle) for 2 days while on UT it is max 12 hours.

RE: Waydroid on Xiaomi mi a2
@bogotrax please disable wifi before starting waydroid. If all works on cellular data for you (does for me)I would call it known problem reported in other threads mi a2 related...
-
RE: Sony Xa2
@branja6 did you managed to have UT at the end.? Thread is old and I see no XA2 on official list, so I guess it was not ported?
Thx -
RE: Open Ubuntu Touch to all Android applications !
@stanwood , I think MI A2 WIFI problem is not only when using Google Apps, I have phone crashing each time when trying to open DuckDuckGo or MS Edge (all works when WIFI disabled an phone is on LTE).
Btw. When going thru list of fully functional devices, I see this is not properly mentioned on https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ (all those have "?" next to Waydroid feature). Would you know where to report it? -
RE: Bluetooth stopped working
@embeddedmz you are correct. I see same after reading your reply.
I am not able to say if this problem came with recent ota-21 update as I did not use BT before but niw I,see same problem you describe (including toggle goin back to disabled) -
RE: Bluetooth stopped working
@embeddedmz could it be that your device finds devices without name?
I see some like that too but also named ones on same list.. -
RE: Installing Ubuntu Touch to a Xiaomi Mi A2 with Android 10
@embeddedmz , not sure if root cause is same but I had same problem. On other chat I found some people saying issue could be in USB 3 port. I switched from my Ubuntu laptop (which I experience problem at same stage) to Mac from 2015 and ubports installer managed did the job there
not sure if that helps.. -
RE: Waydroid reboots my phone connected by wifi
@c4pp4 , you mean both on WIFI or Cellular Data?
I can play with more apps next days maybe but for sure browsers I tried crash device, I tried to look into waydroid's log but I did not see any exception (could be I must search harder as each restart and run puts new logs I guess).
In case I will have more detailed debug results, I will post here (for now I can use device without WIFI as well) -
RE: Waydroid reboots my phone connected by wifi
@c4pp4 , sorry for late reply.
it is actually interesting - could be that my assumption about WIFI is not exactly valid.I tried MS Edge (browser) and DuckDuckGo (browser) and both made my phone crashing when I had WIFI enabled - but in both cases it loaded page normally (which I had open from previous session) and only scrolling up/down page content made my device crashing.
After that I also tried HERE WeGo Maps and I downloaded some map content having only WIFI enabled and it seem to be ok.
when I try mentioned browsers without WIFI again, all works well..

RE: Installing Ubuntu Touch to a Xiaomi Mi A2 with Android 10
@messayisto , If I would know that week+ ago - it would also save me some stress and Saturday night (still was a pleasure but nice it worked with 10 for you!)

RE: Installing Ubuntu Touch to a Xiaomi Mi A2 with Android 10
@embeddedmz , hmm. No idea to be honest, you are on Ubuntu (host machine) or Windows?
I was on Ubuntu for whole process of reinstalling android , at some point I used Mac as ubports installer could not find device (I assume usb issue described somewhere). Do you have a chance try other host machine (or if on Win, check if you have some Google USB drivers - but no idea why would that help?) -
RE: Installing Ubuntu Touch to a Xiaomi Mi A2 with Android 10
@embeddedmz you are fast.. before I noticed you replied, you already had 2 updates on progress..
(one more tutorial basically similar: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/7101/install-ubports-on-xiaomi-mi-a2 )
I did not have that black screen to be honest, I assume you did:
- activate the developer mode,
- list itemUSB debugging and
- list item bootloader unlock)
and then did
./fastboot flashing unlock ./fastboot flashing unlock_critical
?
let me think a bit but I really think I did not do anything more than described - only thing which comes to my mind (but I did not assume it makes any difference) , I had Android Studio installed in past already with adb and whatever tools included from times I did try doing some Android development in free time.
ps... please be aware I am also rookie here, I tried that week+ ago so I am not much more experienced in this area..
