Very good work.
You have my respect.
At the moment I am using Sailfish OS. There is the app (in open repos) Amazfish.
PineTime is also being developed there.
Maybe you can get help there if you need it. Maybe Amazfit devices would also be interesting for you.

RE: UT on PinePhone: a great video today
Yes that's right and there lies the problem :-).
If I want to have Bluetooth I have to be on the Dev channel.
If I want a more "stable" modem I have to be on the kernel channel. So either the Pebble Time is running or I can call someone
but I guess that soon BT will be available on the kernel channel -
RE: Pinephone Rant
I can fully understand the frustration. I felt the same way at times.
As many here have already written, the Pinephone will still take time and you should rather be happy about every improvement.
For me, I have solved this by having a Nexus 5 as a daily driver. Since I unfortunately have no programming skills, I just donate money and watch the development on the Pinephone.
Even if this takes longer from time to time.
Since I am dependent on SMS, it can unfortunately not yet be used as a daily driver.
with all other "bugs" I could live.
So it remains to be seen whether the open source firmware of the modem will prevail. -
RE: UT on PinePhone: a great video today
Don't worry, I will remain loyal to UT. I have tried a lot of distros thanks to the Pinephone, but at the moment they don't come close to UT. Sailfish also looks good, but really unstable. Manjaro, Postmarket OS, Mobian are really missing mobile friendly apps.
Simple things like a fuel app for gas prices or just a navi that is user friendly.
Of course, some other things work better, but the overall package looks better at UT.So it's really just a to wait for a stable modem.

RE: UT on PinePhone: a great video today
Hello, I am currently using my Nexus 5 as a daily driver. But I'm really impressed from the Pinephone (kernel channel).
Why I don't use it yet are the following reasons:
Bluetooth does not work. With the app Rockwork and a Pebble smartwatch I could often leave my smartphone in my pocket. That's a really big benefit for me. Unfortunately, not yet on the Pinephone. The 2nd is the instability of the modem. If SMS can not be received, that is, for me, really bad.
The synchronize with the Nextcloud I feel as nice to have, but I could still tolerate.
This will all certainly still come, but it unfortunately takes time.
So my Pinephone is currently running in hot standby -
RE: Tweak not working
UT Tweak Tool works for me on the Dev Canal , but is do not work on the Stable Canal (white Screen)

RE: An app for smartwatches that expect Android?
Hello,
What actually happened to the Pinetime ? Was it only a development study or will it be launched on the market?
It's probably more possible to start there for an app. -
RE: Pebble Steel + Rockwork = ...
@moem
oh I forgot to say, you must of course also in the Peeble under Settings / Bluetooth remove the Phone (OPO).if it does not work with the terminal
I can write on which way I have managed.
but this applies only to Nexus 5 and PinePhone. -
RE: Pebble Steel + Rockwork = ...
@moem
Oh ok!
With the Pinephone and Nexus 5 it was so that you first had to confirm the pin on the phone and then confirm on the clock that the pin was confirmed.
That with the forgetting of the Bluetooth devices is tricky. for me helped from time to time UT Tweak Tool. Clear cache from system settings.
sometimes it helped to connect both Bluetoooth devices (LE & other) and then remove these devices from the list of known devices. -
RE: Pebble Steel + Rockwork = ...
@moem said in Pebble Steel + Rockwork = ...:
For me it was like this, after factory reset I had to initialize the Pebble with an old Android. in the Nexus 5 I deleted the watch from Bluetooth and let search again. Important !! do not pair the LE version. after that Rockwork worked great.

GPS, GPU and other Things :-)
Hello,
I have 3 questions.1.GPS does not run at the moment or only with manual modification of the system. I read something in the Pine64 forum.
2. GPU accelerated camera is not yet available or even with manual modification?
3. battery improvements will only come with the new kernel ?Do things like QT 5.12 have to be ready before we see improvements in the other areas ?
thanks for your work
kind regards

RE: Stuck at Pine64 logo
@doniks try another OS, manjaro for example.
if that boots from the SD card, the download from UT went wrong.
YOU do not need to connect a USB.
Just use Etcher to flash the image to SD. Insert SD and boot. -
RE: Ubuntu Touch Q&A 90 Saturday 5th December At 19:00 UTC
I have tested the 5.9 kernel on Pine64. I was surprised how well some things work.
This kernel should be skipped to go straight to the 5.10 kernel.
My question, does the 5.10 make things easier during development ?
I am always afraid that with completely new things (software) completely unexpected things will happen. (calls in German: Kinderkrankheiten)
I watch your show again and again with enthusiasm. -
RE: Problems with PinePhone Builds
@ziggutas Many thanks for the explanation. Then I will stay on the RC and see when the Pinephone can be used as a daily driver. At the moment, with 6h battery life and other various problems, this is not given yet.

RE: Problems with PinePhone Builds
Hello, I have a short question about this. I have 3 channels in the Pinephone to choose from: dev(298), RC(15) or stable (8). What version is in the link above ? The version (88 or 86) is more stable ? and would the normal OTA updates run here as well ?
I am a bit confused. I hope you can help me with simply clear Words. -
RE: Any plans for second release of UBports Touch version of the Pinephone?
It is very easy to install UT.
I have done the same with my Manjora Pinephone.
I downloaded the latest jumpdrive and the UT image.
then i used balenaEtcher to flash 2 SD cards. One with the latest jumpdrive version and one with the UT image for the Pinephone. You only need the SD card with the UT image to test how the OS runs.
The SD card with jumpdrive is needed to write the UT image to the internal memory with balenaEtcher. There are really good instructions in the forum.

RE: Flashing a Manjaro Pinephone
@C0n57an71n Hello, yes it was really easy to get the UT on the Pinephone. I was really surprised. It runs on my RC channel, but it hasn't been updated for a month. Thanks for the very good instructions.
I hope that after OTA 14 the updates will come regularly again.with best regards

RE: Pinephone as a daily driver: test report
Hello, are there any news about stability ?
I have read the camera is now GPU accelerated.
Is there a stable channel or should I stay in the dev channel ? Ok it takes some time until my Pinephone arrives and I hope that the development will progress until then. With kind regards

RE: Flashing a Manjaro Pinephone
I also ordered a Pinephone today.
In the version with 3 Gb Ram.
Delivery expected in November.
I hope that UT will be ready to use it as a daily companion by then.I will definitely need support to switch from Manjaro to UT.
With kind regards
Steffen
