@wdnp2 If your hardware is 64 bits compatible, you can use a bootable Ubuntu USB stick: https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-ubuntu#0

      Environment variables under windows...

    • RE: UBports UT installation How-to / Guide d'installation d'UBports UT

Hi there, I'm trying to install on my Nexus 5. Both from Windows using Ubports-installer and trying to use Ubports-installer on my Rasbperry-Pi with Ubuntu Mate does not work.
Trying from my Windows computer and the Ubports-installer, fastboot and adb works from command line, bot Ubports-installer does not recognize the phone.

Trying to install Ubports-installer under Ubuntu Mate, an error message occurs that I'm using the wrong system architecture (armf vw amd64).

Can anyone help me installing Ubuntu Touch in my Nexus 5 using my Windows computer or mx Raspberry Pi with Ubuntu Mate.

Soe time ago I could use ubuntu-device-flash on my Raspberry PI, but this also seems not to work anymore.

      Thanks a lot.

Can you please explain how to switch to devel after going to settings? Thanks a lot.
Ubports Installer does not detect my Nexus 5 although I'm in developer mode.

Maybe it worked for me, because I used a Raspberry Pi with Ubuntu Mate. I'm not quite sure how the user and sudoers group management works there.

I'm pretty sure that by using a "fully prepared" working system, this error does not occur.

I just checked the MDT code. The installation sticks at the following line:

      ubuntu-device-flash --server=http://system-image.ubports.com touch --channel=ubp

      • orts-touch/legacy --device=hammerhead --bootstrap

And now I found the solution. As simple as it is...
      Using su not sudo...

      Flashing successful 🙂

I still get the error message:
err: fork/exec /usr/bin/xz: cannot allocate memory

Again and again after cleaning cache and running MDT. Bootloader is unlocked.

Thats right, but you can move the file structure of UT to the device and installing UT in this way. You can find a description here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/767323/how-to-install-ubuntu-on-meizu-pro-5-that-was-originally-with-android

Unfortunately I don't know if this way still works with the UBports image.

MDT might be the easiest way, but as soon as something goes wrong, you can't really figure out where the problem comes from.
I followed the instruction without succeed. Maybe someone else knows more and can help me.

Thanks, I will try as soon as possible.
Which way of installation do you suggest? Via TWRP?

      @JoeBeach
Yes, the currently installed Android system works still very well.
Do you have any suggestion how to clean memory and try again. By the way, its a 16GB Nexus 5.

      Hi there,

I just found this thread. Maybe my problem is even better addressed here:
I followed the instructions on your website. Unlocked bootloader and root the device.

Using magic-device-tool I receive through following error message:

err: fork/exec /usr/bin/xz: cannot allocate memory

      Can you please help me?

The only thing I'm strggling with is that the bootloader interface says
      Secure boot - enabled

      Thats right?
